I have laid the last brick! around 1400 pavers reclaimed from a street rehab in Port Clinton have been moved, cleaned, and laid alongside of my house this summer. Pergola almost finished also. Next year I can just drink beer here.

Tech83, thanks, I have plenty of Cedar to mill to finish the pergola. The better half and I are considering a wrought iron style of patioware to finish it off.

TG1996, tell me about those crooked bricks . I think I used 6 different manufacturers of brick for this project, each a slightly different size. I will post a picture later of how they lay, some are laid name up with most laid name down. It has a very old time feel to it.

Nice job- looks like my next summer. We're slowly stoning/bricking in the entire yard so no mowing. That looks really great-when I first bought our house I put in a garden out front and dug up about two hundred fifty brick from the turn of the century and before along with a ton (maybe literally) of river stone from when they dug the Miami-Erie canal which is fifty feet away. I still have a little bit but need to get more-I'll have to watch for some street repairs!

Love the factory names on the bricks. They pretty much tell their own story. Don't think I have the patience to try to lay a brick patio.

You should have built a deck- then you could go by the name "Deckman" and when you're building it you could say "Gotta run, I've got Deckman Duty". that way you'd have your own brick named after you.

The bricks are way cool. Since they're paver bricks, they'll should last a long time. (Normal bricks can't be used for pavers).

I'm interested in how you'll complete the rafters/pergola.

We completed this design this fall - it's an interior of a greenhouse being used as a classroom at a day care.

He's hoping a fellow alum with an expertise in civil construction will come over and help finish the project. Of course, I doubt you use pavers much in your highway work.

I'd hate to see the results of a semi kicking one of those up at 60 mph. It'd be ugly for sure.

Although, I ask because my cousin is undertaking a similar project at his house for a sidewalk. Our thought was to use bags of Quickrete. Spread some (dry) over the bricks and use a plate tamp to compact it in between the bricks, then sweep the extra off.
