BG Schools Levy

Post by It's the Journey... »

The BG schools levy went down HARD tonight. Hopefully they can re-group and get something passed. It will be interesting to see a precinct break down and the compare it to the probable re-election of Brown and Gardner. Until the people we send to Columbus changes the schools will always have to reach out to the public for more and more, especially with "privatize everything" Kasich as governor. What a frustrating night!!

It went down "hard" in almost every precinct. I don't think it had much to do with elected state officials.

Well looking at that was enough to make me sick this morning! :vom: I still pin the root of the problem on the complete lack of inaction by our current representation in Columbus. They can fix this any time they want but continue to drag their feet. I would love to see them ALL replaced. However, after looking at the results, this was a complete failure by the pro-levy committee. Mauer put them on their heels and they had no idea how to respond. Precinct 3-C is on campus (gerrymandered) so there were no votes cast from there. The pro-levy group needs to get their facts together and plan to play some serious hard ball if they want to get this thing passed. :-k

We don't base voting rights on property ownership, but if I were a BG resident that voted "no" on a property tax levy that was passed and the margin of victory equaled the number of "yes" votes from the campus precinct....I don't think I'd be too happy. Those darn kids destroy more local property than they will ever own and they're gonna tell me to pay more? Pfft.... :)

Just remember that since the levy was voted down, that enrollment at the university will go up because more students will be able to rent apartments at affordable rates. Of course, Mauer has already raised his prices for next year BEFORE the results of the levy were even known, so now the students need to call Mr. Mauer up and tell him to return his rates to what they paid this year since he will not see an increase in his tax bill.

He felt teachers were paid too much? I wonder how much shister lawyers make per hour? Bet better than a teacher does.

I'll bet he hasn't spent 30 seconds in a classroom trying to TEACH kids either.
