Best Western Falcon Plaza?

Post by hammb »

Hey guys, I know a lot of you have stayed in the hotels in BG, and I never have.

We're planning our wedding and would like to see about getting a block of rooms in BG for people to stay at. The Hampton & Holiday Inn Express are already booked for our date, so they're out. Has anyone stayed at the Best Western? I don't want to direct people to one of the s**t holes around town, so if this place sucks, please let me know. I have no problem sending people to Perrysburg to the Garden or French Quarter, but was hoping that BG would be doable.

I guess we shouldn't have waited so long for this part of it...

It does not suck. My two experiences there have been positive (although the last was 3 years ago). Clean rooms, well maintained, and fairly priced.

When my parents came up to visit, they always stayed at the Best Western. They always had a good experience in staying there.

I would HIGHLY recommend trying to get INSIDE rooms. They are very nice. I didn't like the outside rooms (motel style) at all.

Hambb,
Only thing I can tell you is that Joyce stayed there several yrs. ago (2003 or so)...said it was "dingy, old looking" but she said it's been redone since then and the staff was very helpful and friendly.
Levis Commons would probably be your best bet...Hilton Garden is VERY good...Mike and I went there 2 yrs ago for the signing day program...didn't stay in rooms, but the place was really cool looking everywhere we looked. Joyce said your best bet would be to check out the Best Western on your own to see the current condition of that place...Certainly more convenient if the wedding is to take place in BG... (I tried to get my now stepdaughter and husband to get married on the 50 at Homecoming a couple of yrs. ago...they didn't bite) \:D/

I agree 100 percent with this. The rooms are like night and day. Go with the inside rooms, very clean and comfy.

Well the wedding is to be in Wayne, and Perrysburg is obviously another 15-20 minutes further away. We went ahead and booked a block of rooms for us there. Even though the places up towards P'burg are no doubt nicer, I don't think most people involved would want to pay the extra prices, or journey the extra distance.

Thanks for the comments/recommendations. I'll make sure to let the friends/family know to ask about inside rooms when they reserve. When we set the block up they wouldn't let us be so specific, as they don't actually set you in set rooms until the reservations are actually made.

We had our reception at the B & W Hall in Wayne! Not sure if it's still called that, but wonder if it's the same place?

Haha, Marta! I doubt it's the same place though.

Our place is called Freeport. It's a former church camp on Girton Rd. that this family bought and has turned into a reception hall. I'm not sure how long they've been doing weddings there, but I think it's been in the last 5-10 years or so.

Probably not! And the more I think about it, I can't remember whether it was in Wayne or Bradner!! #-o
Of course, that was nearly 34 years ago...... :smt040

A couple of days behind the original post, but thought I'd weigh in here. Every time my wife and I have come back to BG to visit, we've stayed at the Best Western Falcon Plaza (and will again if our plan to make the trek up in late February comes to fruition.) We have stayed once in the rooms that open to the outside and the rest of our visits have been on the inside rooms. While there definitely is a difference, and I prefer the inside rooms, neither was particularly heinous. As for the hotel itself, every time we've stayed there it's been great. It's affordable yet not lacking in cleanliness like some other places we've had the misfortune of staying in on trips to other cities.

Fostoria has a hotel on the north side of town. I think it is a Holiday Inn Express. That may be an option.
