Bobcats just beat the Wildcats, 28-10.

What a game. UK just embarassed the hell out of themselves and OU played quite well. The back lash has been brutal here on all of the local radio stations and newspapers. I thought I'd share a few quotes from the Kentucky Kernal, the student paper, and the Lexigton Herald-Leader.

"Of my college career, this is the best game by far," said Ohio linebacker Matron Church, who both forced and recovered a fumble. "From the defensive linemen to the waterboys, we played our hearts out."

Ricky Abren - UK DL
"I was just thinking how much more worse can it really get. It's painful, you know, a MAC (Mid-American Conference) team coming into the SEC (Southeastern Conference). We underestimated them and they hurt us."

Rich Brooks - UK Head Coach
"Probably the biggest injury is to our mental psyche, and there is no other way to put it, but that was a very, very tough, ugly loss."

Mike Archer - UK Def. Coor.
"I feel bad. "We honored the '84 team, and I know (former UK) Coach (Jerry) Clairborne is rolling in his grave now because it's embarrassing. It's embarrassing to our players and the guys that were here today."

What great win for an OU team really trying to turn things around.

deja vu- all over again

Way back in 1985, I went to the BG-UK game, won by the Falcons... After the game was over and we were leaving the stadium, a Ky. fan approached me and said, "Y'all shamed us!" He admitted he knew nothing about the MAC and that KY. figured this to be a "walkover".
Sounds like the UK D-Tackle had the same attitude... only truly funny thing about that is that, after last year's successes, I would think they'd know a bit more about the MAC than they did in '85. 8)

A "few" people seem to know some things about the MAC, but I must stress the word FEW. UK football fans, seem to me at least, to be die hard SEC fans and really don't care what's going on outside of the SEC world. They always have an outstanding turn out for football games (60000+), but don't really expect to do much within their conference. Also, the culture here is centered around UK hoops. Whereas following UK football is what you do while waiting for basketball to start.
