Omar... The Washington Post

Post by VAFalcon »

I uploaded (to the gallery page) a scan of a picture/blurb that was in The Washington Post yesterday. Kinda cool to see not only words, but a picture about the game when half the time the Post doesn't even cover our own local teams all that well (mostly I'm complaining about the lack of coverage of the Caps when they're playing, but that's another story...)!!

In case you can't read the words, here's what it says:

Omar Jacobs was 21 of 26 for a career-high 367 yards and four touchdowns to lead Bowling Green to a 70-16 rout of Temple in Philadelphia. P.J. Pope scored four touchdowns and rushed for 106 yards on eight carries.
Bowling Green had its highest point total since a 72-21 win over Ohio University in 2002, and the Falcons, who led by 33 points at the break, were one point short of tying a school record for points in teh first half.
Temple, which has lost five of seven games to Bowling Green, was handed its most lopsided loss since a 55-0 setback to Miami on Dec. 4, 1999.

Yes, I get the Washington Post here in Virginia, and I saw Omar's picture and highlight information in there. I was nice seeing BG getting some love in the Post!

VAFALCON - I went to Chantilly High School. '89. People in that area no nothing about BG or the MAC so it's good to see the coverage. That's awesome!

Get out!?! I'm not from here, but I've lived here since graduating from BG in '93 (I also graduated high school in '89...in PA, though)... We live so close to Chantilly High School (it's where my kids will go) that we can hear the band playing at half time on Friday nights if we are outside!! I'm actually in Chantilly as I type... I work two miles from the high school. Small world...

Yep, we lived in the neighborhood behind Rocky Run. Use to be called Fox Glen, but somewhere down the line I think it was changed to Poplar Tree Estates? I went to Greenbrier West then Rocky Run, then Chantilly. Beleive it or not, but Chantilly in the 80's was smaller then Bowling Green. Now it's huge. We lived their for 10 years. Originally from Cleveland and we moved back here to Cleveland in 1991. My freshman year at BG.
