UK-OU

Post by Class of 61 »

UK Perigrine,
I realized after I'd read your post that it was made before the OU game.. seems as even YOU figured the "Mildcats" to purr over the Bobkittens... Don't know why everyone is rapping on OU... A MAC team beating teams from OOC, especially BCS teams, is good for the entire league...As to their schedule, congratulations to them! I wish we could get schools like Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky etc. to come to the Doyt.
I don't totally buy into the position that the reason they get these games and we don't is because the "Big Boys" are afraid to lose in BG. I honestly wonder what $$$$ guarantees are offered to these teams... Money talks... remember the post awhile back about SEMU taking the $125,000 back home from BG? Obviously, that kind of offer won't make it... and we'd have to pay a "premium" for our seats for a BCS team to come here, but it'd be worth it. (Remember, they charged a higher price for the Marshall game a few years ago). 8)
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)

You're exactly right. I never EXPECTED Ohio to beat UK. In my heart of hearts, I had hope Ohio would win this game but never expected it. UK just really chocked the second half by turning the ball over 5 times. This is by far the best OOC win by a MAC team this year and no one should be giving Ohio crap for winning.

I don't know if Ohio got paid to come here or not? Does someone know this? It may be a 2/1 series, but I'm not sure.

The only other school with as much success in landing opponents is Miami. If being bad is the key, why can't Akron and Kent land any BCS home games. They've been even worse than OU.
I see a win over a 6-6 Minnesota team and a 2-9 Maryland team since 1990. I'll even throw in a win over Hawaii as "decent", but I still don't count two teams as "multiple". (Though technically, I suppose it is.)

Hell, I'll even give up the Kansas win and the Temple wins and you still wish you had the record against BCS schools BG does.

"Lessor", "Lesser"... but who cares about academics, right?

EDIT: maybe you're counting these wins, too: http://www.cfbdatawarehouse.com/data/di ... teamid=879

You didn't do any research into last years OU-UK game. Last year OU was tied at the half with UK, and were only down one score going into the fourth. Lorenzen put us away in that one.

The UK series is 2-0. Games in Lexington 2003, 2004. For the Virgina Tech series which is a 2 for 1. In a 2 for 1 deal, the school with the two home games doesn't have to payout the second game. That way the bigger school saves money on game guarantees.
Growing up in Athens and playing for the high school, the only thing anyone dreamed of was to play for Don Peden.", 1950 OU graduate. "He was the most respected man in town."

I think this is the guy known on some other boards as Kit Kat.

He's insufferable. Very little grip on reality.

Abrasive aren't you? I've been reading your posts elsewhere on this site and I'm personally tired of the hot air. It's not my job to research the OU/UK series. Personally, I could care less. I'm not a fan of either team. I just moved to Lexington and have recently been learning about the UK team first-hand. If I was a fan of either team I'd post on their respective boards. OU may be an improving team with some quality players and I commend them on the win. But one win does not make OU better than BG, there is no connection. Why don't we wait and see who is better on Oct 23. In the meantime, why don't you harass some Marshall fans since they are your next opponent and are the ones abadoning the MAC. Heck, you play UT before us too, or did you forget OU had to play these games first.

Oh, and I know how a 2 for 1 and 2 for 0 series works. Still doesn't tell me what OU was paid to come to UK, if they were paid at all.
