Juco Recruits

Post by Salsa »

I have not seen any mention that BG is heavily recruiting Juco players-- maybe a kicker.

The signing day for Juco players was some time ago and of course most of them would be enrolling for the Spring Semester.

An example of a different story is Ohio who reportedly signed 5 Jucos.

Now maybe BG has also signed some Jucos and we just haven't heard yet.

However, if we're not signing a handful of Jucos, it is likely sending an important message, namely, our coaching staff feels good about young players in the program and also this year's recruiting. Apparently the staff does not see important weaknesses that need to be strengthened by signing Jucos.

A lot of JUCOS=trouble. Solich is grabbing them because he has a lot of holes to fill. It's a pretty big gamble on his part.

We have had limited success with JUCOs in both football and basketball, but I don't see any need to hit the panic button yet. I would love to have a receiver with 6-3 or taller size that can run in the 4.6-4.7 range, but the guys we have are going to be ok too. I just hope these last two recruiting classes are as good as Gregg Brandon thinks they are b/c he seems confident in a lot of our redshirts helping now.

I won't be an obnoxious intruder here, but for the record, Solich signed only one JUCO, and he was an academic All-American who was eligible out of high school but not highly recruited.

Best of luck in the recruiting wars and good luck v. OSU and Wisc. in 06.

Thank you for that.

And welcome to the board! It's always good to have intelligent minds from rival schools come aboard.
