Detroit News top 60 in Michigan

We have two "known" commits (including Young) from Michigan. Boith made the top 25 in Michigan. Young is #12 and Brighton is #21.

Mick McCabe of the Free Press should have his list out soon...he usually goes into greater detail and lists potential colleges

According to the Central Michigan board, D. J. Young was scheduled to visit there last weekend. I checked the board Mon. morning and there is no news regarding Young and CMU.

If Young changes to CMU my respect for their head coach will sink even further. I've heard some things about his public vs private persona that bother me.

I don't like raiding recruits who have verballed to another school, especially to another school in your own conference.

Until they sign on the line, you keep going after them.

Also, note that in the article, Young's college preference is "undecided". Would seem to be a bit shaky for us...though CMU was NOT listed as one of the schools that had offered a scholarship previously.

That kind of thing happens all the time. Just a year or two ago Toledo got a verbal before the start of the season from a kid named Erique Dozier. Later in the recruiting season he de-committed and verballed to BG and then of course signed with BG. So based on that, has your respect for Brandon sunk?

Nope, not at all. It's all part of the process. It also takes 2 to tango. If player X is really committed to school Y, he need only ignore and not respond to letters/calls from school Z. If there is interest, then keep plugging away...ESPECIALLY if its a school in your conference. If you believe that player to be a difference maker it's only that much more sweet to steal a prospect from rival...strengthen yourself while you weaken the opposition.

It's all part of the recruiting game :)

That's exactly how I feel. I was just responding to Salsa's comments about CMU going after a guy that is really considered a "Soft verbal" at this point.

Honestly I didn't see or hear it as I was out of town. Doesn't surprise me though. BG is very good and neither is Toledo. A score of 59-52 tells me that neither team was exactly lights out. I think I heard Toledo had something like 23 turnovers too.

However, by my screen name of rocketFOOTBALL you would think someone with a screen name of FACTman would kind of figure I don't care about basketball.

Anyway, congrats on the win yesterday. It looks like BG might be a little less crappy than Toledo in men's basketball this year. When does football season start again? I'm sure we are both asking that question.

Following recruiting is, at best, an inexact science. They say the kid has committed to BG, but he's still making a visit to another school. That's like being engaged, but still dating other people. If he'd cancelled his other visit(s), I'd say he's in. Otherwise, it's as you say, RF, he's a "soft verbal."
