I noticed that their 2006 game at Kent St. was listed at either Kent or Canton. I wonder if BG's game might become another "home" game at Cleveland. Certainly, that beats a road game, but I have my fingers crossed that the game would be at the Doyt. Since the capacity is down to 24,000, I think temp. seating would be needed in the south endzone.

Actually Kent's Dix Stadium holds over 30,000 while Canton's Fawcett Stadium holds just a little over 22,000 so any move of that game to Canton wouldn't be for capacity purposes.

Dix Stadium holds 30k? Even with the new seating I find that to be a great stretch.

According to Kent's official website it seats 30,520.

Thanks for the link. I haven't been there in a few years so i have not seen the new grandstand but that still surprises me.

The 2003 media guide (before they tore down and rebuilt the visiting side) had 'em listed at 29,800 or so. I haven't been there for five years or so, but it seems like those endzone sections are huge (in relation to the sideline seats), and the concrete stands on the home side is bigger than the Doyt. Considering the Doyt was at or above 30,000 before pulling the endzone bleachers out, Kent being in the 30K range doesn't surprise me at all.

My bad if somebody already posted this, but in the Toledo Blade this morning, it says that Minnesota is playing at the Doyt. It also says that they are not sure yet if they are going to Minnesota in 2009. Should be a great crowd in 2008! Can't wait.

I'm not surprised by the size. I was at the Kent State game this year, and the Dix Stadium feels to be pretty close in size to the Doyt. We're bigger (and have more fans), but it really is a decent stadium.

I can't believe we gave up another Michigan game for a second tier Big Ten "home" game.

Having moved out west, I've come to find a very funny truth in life: outside of the Midwest, no one really gives a sh!t about Michigan or Ohio State, or their rivalry for that matter. You'd never know it living in Ohio, but there are more than a billion people in China that don't know the OSU/Michigan game is happening every year...

Nationally, in terms of name recognition, Michigan=Minnesota. Excellent home pickup for BG.

Well, in any national poll I have every seen on the matter, OSU - Michigan is listed by fans as the top rivalry in college football. And the game is shown on ABC to most of the nation, except the West Coast. That isn't true for, say, Minnesota - Wisconsin.

The thought that Michigan = Minnesota in name recognition, in terms of the football program or as an overall institution, is absurd.

Why no further comment? Hmmm....... Maybe there's just nothing left to say, but you'd think they'd want to shout about it? Or maybe this is going to be part of a bigger scheduling announcement down the road?

Absolutley. Michigan is thought of as a football powerhouse year in and year out whether they deserve it or not. They have the tradition that is known widespread as well. Minnesota has neither.

I'm happy that we are playing Minnesota but it is absurd to think they are thought of on the same level as Michigan outside the midwest. I don't live in the South but I surely recogonize a diffference between Tennessee and Ole Miss.
