Are we talking higher education or K-12 in terms of "caring" for education? Because if we're talking K-12, then how many times has the New Mexico Supreme Court ruled its state's funding of schools "unconstitutional?" Ohio has done that 5 times and still nothing has been done to fix it. Making the claim that Ohio is concerned or cares about education is the more undefensible argument in this teacher's mind.
"Undefensible" isn't a word, teach.

Don't confuse separate issues. Just because the manner in which a state funds its schools is ruled unconstitutional (leaving aside the jurisprudential question of whether or not this was the correct ruling), doesn't mean that the state isn't concerned about education. Presumably, a state could care so much about education that it made university attendance mandatory. Certainly, this would be unconstitutional, but at the same time, it would seem to show a concern for education.

What do Ohio roads have to do with Krebs interviewing at New Mexico?
I like that steak comes from cows. That is why a cow will not think twice about eating you.

If Paul Krebs wants to move onto another job, I think he is entitled and should be allowed to go without judgment from anybody at BGSU or its supporting community. He has done a fine job.

My guess would be that Ribeau would retire after the current capital campaign ends, close to the Centennial. I expect several projects will launch about the same time and await the new president. The most obvious of those projects is a convocation center. That will make the Sebo Center pale in terms of what needs to be done. And that project isn't the sum total of what athletics needs to do.

A new administration, even if it comes years later than expected, is going to put the entire University under a microscope. The time that happened, Dr. Z was “reassigned” and is why Krebs got his job. I might want to avoid that and leave on a high note.

There are most certainly going to be issues with one head coach, which by this time in 2007 is going to have festered into a really nasty debate. Some blow-back may come his way because of allowing said coach to return after an aborted attempt to leave. If football tanks again, regardless of how young or old the team is on paper, questions are going to start to develop over that coach. Some may ask if BGSU took the easy road in a tight spot when it hired Brandon. If hockey isn't any better in two years, however certain some are that the coach is the right fit, people are going to ask questions about how long BGSU will wait to let him turn matters around. In one or more of these instances, you are looking at a major, even pivotal search for BGSU

I want to make it clear, I'm not saying any of this as an expression of my own personal view of any coach, or as a judgment of how well they do their jobs. I'm only pointing out that under the hood, there are opinions which hold that all isn't without existing and future challenges. These are generally good times for Falcon fans, and that is brings with it, a lot of good will, and it masks flaws we won't see until after we years down the road.

There isn't any reason to think a worst case scenario awaits BGSU. However this might also be a high-point for Krebs, which lets him move such that he takes positive momentum into a new job, and we have a strong position for bright new talent to fill.

I think Krebs could get everything done just fine. If he takes a job with all that which comes with it, he'll do great, is totally deserving of the position. BGSU will bring somebody new, or elevate one specific person to the job. We shouldn't assume that person wants the job, because I also don't want to see folks trying to be sympathetic if he doesn't get it. The new person, should we have one, will simply be the start of new and great things. That is the only way to look at it.
