Nah, Rosenfels would likely be the starter in that situation.
He is gone. They may release Ferotte in effort to sign Brees or another FA.
I'm surprised that they would release Rosenfels, since he likely wasn't making much money. This means they are definently looking QB in the draft, and if Arizona and Baltimore pass on Cutler he'll be there at 16. If not, then they are looking at Omar.
Cutler is almost sure to be gone by that pick. Croyle is the guy I hear they are most interested in at this point, but look for a bigger name QB to head that way. Brees or Ramsey even.

If I was Brees I would want to make sure that they sign an above average LT before signing.

Miami isnt going to have enough room to sign brees...this whole salary cap deal is going to screw Miami. They wont be able to draft a QB first round either because they can pay a 1st round -lineman a lot less than a 1st round QB. If omar falls to 2nd round he is definately the best possibility to go to the phish as a 2nd or 3rd rounder..

what the hell...get a deal done so they can re-sign mcintosh and madison back
cut ricky he is 8 million that we can get rid of.

Yea the caps screwed up but they'll be okay.
McIntosh and Madison sucked, Madison has been on the decline for years and making way too much money. He won't be back unless he takes a huge paycut. Ricky is making the NFL minimum and can still put a 200yard game up when called upon, cut him why?

because i do not like him. it is now time to let ronnie brown take over he averaged about 5 yards/carry he has shown he can do it in this league in my opinion. Ricky is a trouble maker and apppears to be up to no good again..

currently in india, pending suspension could be out for the year anyways

as a FAN of the phish, I do not like him. i do not trust him
he failed another drug test, it seems to be heading back to where it started two years ago whe he first retired
he is in india (where he went when he retired). it seems like it is happening all over again.
i know it wasnt marijuana this time, but who knows what it was..

i did not jump on the ricky bandwagon last year. the only reason i was glad he came back was to give ronnie a year in the league where he was not the only RB so he wouldnt ware down, get a year to break his self in.

other than that ricky needs to go. F him

ya know its just pot, and clearly does not effect his game play, he is a hell of a player, its not like hes playing stoned. BUT it is illegal and as such rules are rules, Dam shame for that guy that he can not exercise better judgement.

i just hope the "union" and the owners can reach an agreement so they don t like it out...that would most likely put an end to my NFL watching. If they do lock out the players...i would happily watch the scabs again!!! those were fun games.

From a chat earlier today:

Shalin (Columbus): What happened to Omar Jacobs from BG? Is he even a first day prospect anymore?

Todd McShay: He's one of the disappointing cases of underclassmen decisions this year. Prior to his injury-riddled and disappointing 2005 season, Jacobs was considered by many to be a potential first round pick. He helped himself with his strong showing in the combine, but because he only had one impressive season and is coming off a down year, that Jacobs will go no higher than mid to late range of the second round. His throwing motion is unique and concerns some teams as is the passer friendly offensive schemes he played in at Bowling Green where the majority of his throws were made underneath.

A good question for Todd would be: Why is it a bad decision for Omar if he can go in the 2nd-3rd round? Would he have been able to improve on that with another year at BG?

I think Omar made the right decision for himself.

Interesting. Two thoughts.

1) Few QBs are drafted in the 2nd round nowadays. If they aren't a first rounder, they tend to drop to third or fourth. To wit, there hasn't been a QB drafted in the 2nd round in the last four drafts.

2) If he were to beat the odds and get drafted in the 2nd round, would that really be a mistake? I mean, Charlie Frye went in the fourth. I should make such a mistake as to get picked in the second round of the NFL draft.

I think even if Omar goes in the third round, he made the correct decision. It seems right now, with all the uncertainty surrounding a new CBA, that Omar will go in the mid-third at the latest.

j4h:

Because I'm a geek, I had to find out.

Other third-round QBs picked in recent drafts ...

2005: Charlie Frye (oops, I think I said fourth round in my previous post; what a loser I am), David Greene, Andrew Walter
2004: Matt Schaub:
2003: Dave Ragone, Chris Simms
2002: Josh McCown

God help me, I'm such a freakin' geek.

More meaningless QB draft stuff...

In the past four drafts ...

27 have been drafted in the first four rounds
31 gave been drafted in the last three rounds

QBs by rounds (last four drafts)

1: 14
2: 0
3: 7
4: 6
5: 8
6: 9
7: 14
