If that away game turns out to be Temple I would prefer a home game against a IAA school. Of course I'm sure a road game against Temple would sit just fine with you. :D

I guess I thought when the Boise thing went down we were promised a I-A opponent and I just assumed it would be a home game.

That’s pretty much what was reported and what most of us were under the impression would happen - that BG would get a home game against a D-I school in replacement of rescheduling the Boise State game. Of course, it would come as no surprise if we come out on the short end of the stick on this either. What’s frustrating is, according to what was reported, our schedule change really got underway when Ohio U couldn’t complete its schedule because it was backing out of games with Virginia Tech and Utah because of issues “not suited to Ohio University’s interest.” Apparently the MAC looked for assistance from another member schools to help out Ohio, which is where I understand BG came into the picture. So, despite having had our schedule in place for awhile, it sounds like we stepped up to help out. The funny things is, Ohio would have actually had a home game with Virginia Tech this season, but instead of having to pay a guarantee payout to the Hokies, they wanted to schedule a pay-game for themselves to help fund their ongoing renovation project for Peden Stadium (they are renovating the inside of the Peden Tower). The latest rumor has Ohio now playing at Illinois, but I’ve also heard West Virginia and others mentioned as well. In BG’s case, after receiving our early season ticket order form myself like other have, it does only have four home games listed on it which were Miami, Eastern Michigan, Buffalo and Kent State. If that’s all we get at home, that will be a very disappointing home schedule. As for now, all we can do is wait and see what happens.
GO BG!!!

If we only have four games at the Doyt, I'd like to see a check from the MAC and Ohio U. :?

Or at least a humanitarian award or something.

Frankly, that's a garbage home schedule without Boise State and I may non renew my season tickets with a strongly worded note to the new AD explaining why.

33, I can't imagine they're going to add a game now, since the prices are already set.

I've already sent a letter to Krebs and Chryst letting them know how upset I am about the schedule change.

That's exactly what I was thinking. We need to protect our own interests more versus always helping out the rest of the conference. They must not have found the replacement opponent yet; otherwise, what are they waiting for in making an announcement?

Since BG was promised a replacement home game, there needs to be some type of restitution if this doesn't happen.

A schedule of 4 real home games, 7 road games, and 1 neutral-site game reeks of a bottom-of-the-barrel Sun Belt team (or Temple or Buffalo).

Well temple anyways, We already have Buffalo at home

On another note, Does anyone know where it was said that we would get a home game to replace BSU? There is no mention of this on the athletic site in the write up of the BSU cancellation. So maybe this isn't a new screw job, but one that pretty much happened right from the start.

Schadenfreude wrote this after the reception at Browns Stadium:

"...We will have a I-A nonconference opponent at the Doyt this year, and the MAC office has told Bowling Green who it probably will be."

Schady: Who said this at the reception?

Yeah, I know, it's probably set in stone by now with the ticket prices going out and all, there was even something posted on the website about it. I still want to see what's going to be scheduled and see what's official first before I comment any further on it. If we only have those four home games, we’d better pray we have a good team and good weather for those dates because with the exception of the Miami game, that’s about as weak of a schedule as you could have. If we finish with a losing record at home this year like we did last season, we’ll be in big trouble.

I almost wonder if BG’s administration may have changed it’s mind about scheduling a home game and didn’t look into the options of playing a pay game on the road for a team that was still looking to fill its schedule too? We are still trying to fund the SEBO, it could be a reason. Or, maybe we are trying to lock up a home-and-home series with someone and needed to fill the front end like we always end up doing. But like South Florida and now Boise State, I always dread playing the road game first because our return games seem to just drift away.

That very well could be it. Maybe they lined up a game in which we would get a better pay out then if we had another home game. The thought could be that attendance has been poor so we are better off getting money from some other school. If you consider the fact that we will count the wisconsin game in our avg attendance we stand a better chance at having a higher avg attendance with 5 games than six.

Still it sucks, but on the bright side, I can definitely afford season tickets at the recent grad rate, plus do Kids club for my oldest 2. I was also given the chance to teach at a research summer camp (these kids will be bigger geeks than I am). I think they are paying me about 20$/hr so looks like I might be able to afford the OSU game.

I really wish we could get a better idea of who we're playing. What is taking so long, the wait is driving me crazy!

Alright. We have 4 home games. Lets embrace those and the fact that we will be playing in Cleveland.

The MAC screwed up. There are other teams that dont have the schedule they need and unfortunately we took a hit. Would have been awesome to play Boise State here. AND IT WILL IN 2007!!!

Why give up your seats for this year and watching us kick 4 teams butts at home and miss out on those seats for 2007 when Boise and 4 other teams will be here.

We don't know what is going on behind the scenes. Everything is speculation. I'm sure by us giving up the game we the fans will be rewarded with a great season and maybe an amazing schedule in 2007.

Plus i'm renewing cause I want a shot at some Ohio State tickets too!

And I like this new ticket exchange thing.
