The current AT situation will be handled as follows: Ryan Patrick is being kicked off the team for Lying to coach Brandon. AT came clean and he is being suspended for the Wisconson game. However, he will also be brutalized in the weight room, and will have many early morning runs. Along with those punishments he will also lose the respect of many of the players on the team, which can be much harder on a player. Even though AT screwed up, if anything it could be a blessing afterall. AT has been very soft this off-season he thinks everything will just be handed to him and he has it made. He hasnt looked very sharp in the passing drills and the other QB's are working much harder than him. Hopefully this experience will wake him up and he will figure it out. AT is a good kid, who just made a stupid decision. He has the raw talent to become another great QB at BG its just a matter of if he is willing to pay the price.
If this is the truth, I'm very happy with the penalties and I think it is appropriate. Brandon's respect level goes up a notch. I hope AT takes this opportunity to really grow up and become the leader and person we all want him to be.

I'm with Grant about the respect thing.

Thanks Baller.

Here's more from Coach Brandon in the Sentinel:

"Obviously, Anthony made a serious mistake when he received a citation for possession of marijuana. The discipline that I imposed will be handled by me internally. Anthony is still subject to additional sanctions from the school and the legal system."

"I believe it is important that I use this opportunity to teach not only Anthony, but our players. Division I athletes, they are held to a higher standard; and we all know that when we sign on the dotted line, that's part of the deal."

"Anthony is definitely sorry for his choice that he made. It was wrong. He's going to begin the learning process now and we're going to move on. It's a great opportunity for me to teach and educate and that's what I am above all, a teacher."

As am I.

Kudos to Brandon for showing some authority.

Ryan Patrick is not kicked off the team. Suspended (3weeks) through Spring Ball.

1 game suspension for an illegal substance is not the punishment that he should receive. The OSU player got trafficking because he had more on him, atleast he wasnt smoking it when he got caught. its not any better, but its not necessarily worse, He was booted for year and lost his scholly..it likely cost him a college football career because i doubt he will make the team
but AT is supposed to be a starting QB for BG and he gets 1 game and your ok with that?

HYPOCRITS! so what if he came clean, he admitted being a criminal..that is the same thing you make fun of UT about..housing criminals on their football team

now BG is doing the same thing..

you people are unbelievable.

First off who ever said AT was a leader? Just because you are the QB doesnt make you a leader. Omar was not a leader either, very soft spoken, wanted others to lead while he did his thing on the field. Thats why BG did not do well last year was because they lacked leadership. And AT wasnt smoking it. The cops smelt it so they searched the car and found a small amount.

Dude. Seriously. Get the f*ck over it.
posting a ton of replies in a row and talking crap about BG is doing nothing but make you look like more of an idiot than usual. There have been more than a few people here who posted that they thought the punishment should be much more severe, yet you completely ignore those and call us all hypocrites. You can spin it any way you want, but the fact is, the OSU player was charged with trafficking, AT and Ryan Patrick did not have as much and (apparently) were not smoking it. Deal with it.

Trafficking is a felony. Simple possession is a minor misdemeanor -- $150 fine, no jail, basically a tiny step up from a traffic ticket.

There is absolutely no comparison between the situations.
HYPOCRITS!
Way to represent with that spelling.

I am on record as decrying the "holier than thou" attitude some have when it comes to the scrapes Rockets have had with the law. If I haven't been more forceful about it, it is simply because I avoid most of those Toledo-bashing threads, which bore me.

I don't respond to your posts very often. In the future, just assume I disagree with all of them in total, unless I happen to say otherwise.

That has to be the most crass post I've ever seen on this board. Isn't there a minimum age limit for joining in around here?

Agreed. That was borderline artistry, Schad.

I also agree with Grant on his post. If the punishment is as described, I believe that to be very fitting.

I was going to edit or delete some of tekininny's posts, then I saw that the other mods and site owner had decided on a good mocking instead.

Well done guys...particularly you Schad!
