BGSU Fans at upcoming NIU Game

Post by niucob86 »

Greetings Falcons:

Other than the game itself, I had a great time at Doyt in 2003.
Should we expect a large BGSU contingent in DeKalb on September 24th?
Additionally, what is the line on the OU game?
Since I'm not a betting man, I don't know where to look.
Just have a feeling that Vegas won't be giving the Falcons the respect they deserve. Looking forward to seeing your new QB.

A lot of us were really turned off the last time we visited NIU due to the physical and verbal abuse we recieved and that may hold the BG crowd down to some extent. I have heard that they moved the vistor section to your reserved side, which should be more visitor friendly. Is that true, and if so, what have been the experiences of the visiting teams the past year. It is turning into a nice rivalry on the field, but I won't subject myself to having bottles and everything else thrown at us, if that is still the case.

I was at the last road NIU game and, other than the game, had a pretty good experince. The students were a little out of hand, but I didn't personally experience anything that disturbed me too much. I think our crowd will be pretty thin this year just because it is on a Friday night. It will take a little extra dedication from fans wishing to see this game in person. Since it is on ESPN or The Deuce as well, it will be hard for most casual fans to drive 5 hours one way instead of drinking in a BG bar and watching it there.

jmillerbg: Good ponts and that's too bad, really. This game may turn out to be one of, if not THE, most critical games on the schedule. Winning it puts the pressure on UT to run the table. A loss puts the Rockettes in the driver's seat and makes the Marshall game a Must Win.

I heard the oddsmakers have Bowling Green beating OU by 50.

Oh wait...do you mean the OU in Oklahoma? In that case, the line's still 50!

I had a nice weekend out there a couple of years ago for the game -- the staff and people I interacted with were very friendly. Got a butter burger and cheese curds at Culvers on our way out of town. Hoping to come back, but it probably won't be this year. I'd like to think we'll have a pretty sizeable group out there in September. It's early in the semester, so kids can afford to take a weekend break from schoolwork and head out to DeKalb.

Thanks for checking in!

That's the other crap that ticks me off about the TV coverage with Mid-Majors. This ia a HUGE match-up, and the BG contingent won't be able to show up in droves as much b/c ESP-frickin'-N wants to get tv ratings for a Friday night game! Then they'll wonder why the stadium isn't full or why Mid-Major schools don't travel well...HELLO! If you would have it on a WEEKEND that would increase the chances of traveling well! But then if it was on Friday, it wouldn't be televised. But it's still crap. :x

I was at dekalb the last time bg played there. We literally had to fend for frieda from the lunatics on the way back to the parking lot after the game. Not to scare anyone off, but it wasn't a mature crowd. I plan on goin for the game cuz i ain't scared. Plus i'm no instigator. Hopefully the university has tweaked it's arrangments and made it a better atmosphere for the home fans, and hopefully they provide more security/law enforcement for the visitors.

I was there the last time and I will certainly be there this year. I think alot of the NIU students were immature, but I didn't feel physically threatened. I'm sure there were BG students saying/doing similar things after the UT game last year. Unfortunately, those sorts of things happen when alcohol gets mixed with a big win.

Last I heard, the line was 31. I hope it doesn't get that ugly!

I'm hearin' ya. I would have totally made the trip from Cleveland if the game were on a Saturday, but Friday is just too hard to swing with work. At least it is on ESPN, but I would have much preferred to be at the game in person.

Oklahoma Spread

Post by FalconRadio'01 »

Last time I saw it was BG was getting 31. I saw it in USA Today a week or so ago. Check out www.sportsbook.com for the latest lines. Who know anything within a few TD's would be a morale victory, but don't forget OSU and Purdue last year, they were written off in both games so who knows. Go Falcons!!!

Bus ride to NIU

Post by Orange »

Will there be a bus ride to the game? I am a student and I will not have my car.

Bus is full, the fans are gone, the remainder of us are here to secure the silverware and valuables from UT fans coming south.
