Didn't someone think that last year?

Glad to see a post on thew SEBO construction effect.

Given how they'll no doubt have to secure the construction area before each game day, having only four adjustments will be helpful to keeping the project on track. By the last game the building should be pretty much enclosed so that the inside work can continue over the winter.
I don't like just four home games, but I think it's OK as long as it's a one-time thing. I'm all for helping other folks -- but let's make them pay for it on the field when we whip their a$$.

It's Temple, you don't have to be that good to blow them out

Ah... my mind must have been slipping. Coulda swore we had a "this isn't the same Temple team we stomped last year" discussion.

I mean, hell, we even let our BACKUP punt returner take one back for a TD! :-D

FWIW, here's why this year's Temple game WILL be different...

1. Our offense simply will not produce like it has in the past. We basically starting over - new QB, new WRs, new RBs, a few new OL sprinkled in. Our offense is based on timing and we'll have to develop that.

2. Temple gave up last year. That won't happen with a new coach, plain and simple.

And Temple's new coach is going to have those kids develop an "us against the world" attitude.

They may very well give BG a game.

Golden is going to make playing well against MAC teams a priority. They have Kent & Buffalo on their schedule and I'm guessing he has those games circled as his "must wins." But with the last two year's of film vs. BG, he'll have plenty of fuel to get his Owls charged up for us.

I don’t take ANY team lightly in any sport we play anymore. What happened one year can differ a lot in the next, or the year after that, etc. I’ve got two words for all of you that think just because BG blew out a team one year means you’ll do it the same the next season – Western Michigan! BG beat the snot out of WMU in 2004 by the score of 52-0 and it could have been a lot worse. The game was a massacre at halftime. One year later, the lowly Broncos strolled into BG and just kicked our ass all over our field 45-14! Yeah, we lost Omar in that game, but we still had our other 20-plus starters, many of which won’t be with us this year. If that isn’t proof we can’t take any team lightly, then I don’t know what is.

Yeah, yeah, I know we’ve beaten Temple 70-16 and 70-7 the last two years, but that’s in the past and means NOTHING for the 2006 season. I do feel we should beat Temple again. But we don’t even know how good we’ll look or be this year with all of our losses and how young we’ll be. Remember how bad we looked and how we struggled big-time without Omar “with” all of our key players last season? We’re going to have to bring our A-game to beat be a lot of teams next year, probably even Temple. They’ll be playing with under a new coach and a new outlook this season, which is exactly what WMU did in 2005. Just remember, when teams like Purdue, Missouri, Northwestern and Kansas lined up against BG, many of those schools fans were writing off BG and expected their team to win and we were getting upset that those teams and fans were overlooking us. And we all know what happened in those games. When you aren’t prepared to play your best or if you take a team lightly, you’ve already lost part of the battle and are setting yourself up for a loss before the contest even begins.

So let the talks start about how some people will eat a bug or whatever if we lose to Temple, but just keep last year’s WMU game in the back of your mind before you agree to do it.
GO BG!!!

Who is responsible for our football schedule the last two years and who is supposed to be sticking up for us with MAC scheduling? I for one am tired of BG being the MAC scheduling bitch.

p.s. This Temple crap has got to stop. I just hope their administration gets smart and pulls their program next year.

The year before Temple joins the MAC is probably not the best time to hope we never play them again.

IMO, Temple will be competitive in the MAC sooner rather than later.

I agree. There is no reason for Temple not to compete effectively in the MAC.

WOW!!!! Did you folks forget you are in the MAC. You have to play conference games and despite how great you think we are, Wisconsin was not going to travel to the Doyt. Next best thing - schedule the home and home and move the game to Cleveland. It is called being creative while not selling your soul with a 3 for 1 or 4 for 1 to get a home game.

So we have 4 games at the Doyt... I am glad that there are 3 games in September. Our fans are better (louder), tailgating is more fun, and more ppl show up to the games when it is warm. According to NCAA attendance figures BG was 104th in the country last season. THAT IS TERRIBLE!!! 104!!!

This year season tickets are CHEAP!!! and you get to go to the game in Cleveland for free. What more can AD Krebs and the gang do? Florida State, Michigan, heck not even Duke will make regular trips to our neck of the woods. We have OSU and Wisconsin, two top teams. Heck we may have over scheduled!!!
