I'm not sure what all counties are surrounding the Cleveland, but the big four that I see are listed above.

Basically all of NE OH has a pretty big alumni base. Don't forget Mahoning and Trumbull counties with Ytown and Warren. How about the Columbus area? It's a 2 hour drive right up I 75 to C town.Class of 61 wrote:And add Medina County to that mix.....Stark County (Canton,Massilon etc.) isn't THAT far away either.FMBfan07 wrote:lake county is next door to cuyahogatransfer2BGSU wrote:Take a look at the following link:Jacobs4Heisman wrote:How many BG alums are in the Cleveland area?

I thought the rule was an NCAA rule and would still be in effect for an NCAA game no matter where it is played????Bleeding Orange wrote:I'm going to say this only once (and teke, tell your friends!): people WILL be able to drink at this game! As an off-campus game, university rules about selling alcahol at sporting events, I'm sure, will not apply. For those of you that think we won't get that many alums to the game, this will likely be a big factor in pulling them in. Plus, with the Air Show going on, there will likely already be a lot of them in the downtown area.tekekini wrote: if so that will kill BG student attendance as most will stay home and watch it where they can drink beer
I woudln't be so pessimistic about this. We could not have gotten a better weekend in the year to play a game at CBS... 8)
i am aware they can still tailgate but i was referring to drinking while watching the game..and i was under the impression that selling alcohol at an ncaa game was an ncaa rule and was a rule in effect for all ncaa games no matter where they played? i may be wrong but thats just what I thought.
does anyone else know for sure?
it cant be a rule by certain universities...i have been to events at value city arena such as concerts, and they have sold beer...but they do not sell it for osu basketball games or hockey games that is why i had the impression that it depends on the event...i dont know.

Alcohol sales are at the discretion of the university. I have heard in the past that Cincy sells beer at their home games, but I'm not sure? I know they sell beer at the MAC tourney and sold it at the MCB in '03. I'm sure that they'll be selling beer during the Wisky game, but the problem is that they'll probably be the $8 stadium beers. Still, I'd be shocked if they didn't sell beer during the game.
There is definitely no NCAA rule regulating alcohol sales...

I renewed my season tickets and am happy to get to go to Cleveland Browns Stadium for FREE (never been there)!!! Makes up for the Doyt schedule of winners and better than the DVD we got last year. I like that BG is playing this game in the big stadium. Screw the marketing... read a paper, watch the news, wake up, just be a fan... WE ARE PLAYING A BIG TEN TEAM ON OUR TERMS!!!! There will be 50K+ there.

No, it isn't an NCAA rule. In fact, if you go up to the upper level of Value City Arena, they do sell beer. At least during hockey games, anyways. Kent also sells beer at all of their football games (not sure about basketball). It is at the discretion of the school, and I would guess that since CBS concessions will be in charge of the refreshments that beer will most definately be served, though as Hammb said, they'll probably be $8.tekekini wrote:I thought the rule was an NCAA rule and would still be in effect for an NCAA game no matter where it is played????Bleeding Orange wrote:I'm going to say this only once (and teke, tell your friends!): people WILL be able to drink at this game! I seem to remember having a really good showing at the Motor City Bowl in 2003.
I'm going with 40K-50K for this game. Call me the cock-eyed optimist, but this game is going to be promoted as a bowl game. If the marketing is done right, there may be a LOT of orange and brown at this game.

Correct, up to the school. Beer is sold at the Carrier Dome for 'cuse football, hoops and lacrosse. It's an on-campus site.hammb wrote:Alcohol sales are at the discretion of the university. Gosh, is it really all about the beer??? We'll have 50K+ if we have alcohol there but we'll barely make 20,000 if we don't? Is this really how it is , that we have such abysmal attendance, no booze to get "happy" with? Are other football schools allowing beer at games? If it really isnt' a NCAA rule but a school one then we might as well start allowing beer to a certain extent maybe, nothing else has worked.Lord_Byron wrote:Correct, up to the school. I suppose someone, somewhere figures we need a little decorum.
