Come to Athens this weekend and see the 110 and Alumni bands

Post by medlerBobcat »

As with anything concerning OU footbal, it's the band that makes the difference.

So, if you're tired of the same old from your college marching bands, take heart that this weekend will be homecoming in Athens and will feature both the Marching 110 and the always lawless Alumni Band.

Come down and see the Bobcat football team fumble and stumble...but our band kicks everyone's ass.

Oh...could you please not wear orange. It hurts my eyes.

Thanks!

Claiming the 110 has anything to do with musicianship is insulting to everyone with ears. ::puke::

Yes, you're exciting to watch. Then again, so is the running of the Bulls at Fiesta de San Fermin. That doesn't necessarily mean it's entertaining. The songs - if you call them that - are indiscernible. If not for the announcer, one could never tell what genre you are putting forth.

I've seen you hoodlum band perform more times than I care to recall. It's been 12 years since I witnessed the trainwreck 110. It took 3 years for the bleeding from my ears to stop.

My recommendation to you as a school is to get more member than only 110. Then maybe you wouldn't have to blow so hard. I've never heard so many laser sounds since Return of the Jedi.

I would prefer listening to a 220 fifth graders play Mary Had a Little Lamb on out of tune plastic slide whistles than listen to that marching band play a single note.

Actually...

It's about 158 members of the 110. (110 for pregame).

And if you feel so strongly about the 110 than don't come. I was only inviting you...jeez...didn't mean to take you back to 'Nam.

For the rest of you...you're still invited...it is always a good time.

I actually saw the Marching 110 perform down here at a Virginia vs. North Carolina football game a few years ago. I thought it was a very cool halftime performance and they got great reviews. But as long as BG wins the game, I could care less how good OU's band is. The Marching 110 is fun to watch, but it's not anywhere near as exciting as the BG football team firing on all cylinders! GO FALCONS!!!

Our marching 230 some could destroy you! BG has TBDBITL, not the suckeyes!

I will be in solid burnt orange like most of our fans and you will just have to deal with it :D

it could be worse, you could decide to wear that brown...

Good lord, who thought of these colors? Brown and orange? Who gets up in the morning and decides this?

Whatever...wear your orange...we could use you guys when marking the construction projects on US 33.

Me and the family will be there...do you forsee any problems in waiting to buy 5 tickets at the gate? Or should I purchase ahead of time? Thanks.

Looking forward to hearing the band...taking in the Hocking Hills colors and drilling the kitties!!

The school colors of orange and brown were selected when President Williams asked representatives from industrial arts, home economics, and a student to chose the colors. Rumor has it that the colors were suggested by Prof. Winslow after he saw them on a lady's hat. However, no record can be found that indicates formal approval by faculty or students. The colors were chosen because they "made a pleasing combination, and as they knew, were not used by any other colleges."

Hey I'll wear my orange and brown with pride. In hish school, my colors were brown and gold...but on most of the uniforms (including the band uniforms), it was not gold but pee yellow...so I'm sure you can imagine the nicknames we got.

When it would rain, the band would wear these pee yellow rain coats. The hood would make it look like a banana. So, when we would unzip the hood, it would look like a peeled banana because the other side of the hood was white. So not only did we have nicknames that refered to bodily fluids, we were also known as banana's (well the band was at least)

So, Orange and Brown is a step up :)

No..they have liberal arts degrees from Ohio.

We can deconstruct that construction sight or, that garbage if you let us.

As for buying tickets:
Buy them through the ticket office for will call. Call the ticket office at 800-575-CATS. Whatever you do, do not wait until last minute to buy the tickets. The gates open 1 1/2 hours prior to gametime. Get those tickets as early as possilbe. The new ticket manager hasn't quite figured out the ticket system and because of it, the place was a mess prior to the Marshall game. Nearly a sell out in terms of ticekts sold but, hundreds of fans didn't want to wait in the ticket lines that wrapped around the stadium through the first quarter.

My advice...call OU tomorrow and put them on will call. The homecoming parade begins at 10am and you can go uptown (Court and Union) to see the magnificent parade...it's all about the bands. Afterwards, pick up your tickets at 12:30, go do a little tailgating, and admit yourself to the game by 1:30. It's not the best run stadium and the vendors ran out of food at the Marshall game...I hope they have fixed things but, something tells me they haven't.

Your ticket office isn't that bad. It only took them six weeks to process my order.....

I ordered two seats for this weekend's game to go with my season tickets and I still haven't received them.

Again, I apologize for our ticekt office...it's a bad situation...of course, it's a new manager and it may get better in a few years. :?
