Also, maybe they would wait on this kind of thing until there is resolution on whether to build a new arena, since the south end of Perry Stadium seems a potential location. Perhaps fencing could be wrapped into the cost of that rather large project.
On the other hand, I'm a football fan first.
And, even if I wasn't, a strong football team will lift all boats to an extent.
It's hard for me to imagine a MAC championship basketball team or a CCHA champion hockey team getting the kind of exposure our football team has already achieved these past few years.
Maybe I'm myopic -- but count up the hours Bowling Green football gets on ESPN and ask yourself: How in the world could our other programs even catch up to that?
If going to football games is a pleasant experience, we can charge more or lure more out there. The fencing would be a part of that.
(So would better concessions -- which ought to be the subject of a seperate thread. I don't have clear ideas on what should be done here, but I know the offerings at Yager Stadium blow our concessions out of the water).
I say we take down the fence and put up brass poles every ten yards. Then, sign a partnership deal with Deja Vu that allows them to fly their banner of the stadium endlessly while dancers perform pre game, halftime and post game. If we score 40 or more points, then all in attendence receives a coupon for 10% off any lap dance.

Somehow I knew you'd reply to this.

If we could just paint all the concrete somehow it would look pretty nice.
And talking about that fence. If you look at, it is certainly a very high grade of chain link fence. Yes, it is not the most pleasant on the eye, but it is anything but cheap.
Now that you mentioned it, I don't recall seeing any exposed rebar or crumbling spots of concrete either...and that is excellent!! Even these cosmetic renovations help a great deal.
FWIW, Rich Stadium in Orchard Park, NY? Home of the NFL's Buffalo Bills has a chain link fence around it....at least it did, in 2004, when we stopped there on our way home from the Falls to let the Freaklings see the stadium.
Yeah the fence ain't the best...and I like the idea of a iron or brick wall.
But, IMO, it isn't that big a deal at this time. Once you get past the fence, everything else is much more important...including the product on the field.
