Josh Haldi, the QB that BG didn't see, was 15-22 for 333 yds and 6 TDs. With him hitting his stride, our O is REALLY good.

So if you would have had Haldi, he would have handed off better than your other qb against us? Your backup played lights out--played out of his mind that night and it was only Omar's 3 collegiate game. Central Florida is a jaugernaut, huh? To beat them w/a last second field goal? Reminds me of when you got beat by Western Illinois a couple of years ago.

HuskieDan is a good guy -- and while his post seemed to contain a trace of gloat, I doubt it was intentional.

Bottom line: NIU kicked our asses. I believe we might win a rematch, but we won't get one.

We need to look forward, not backward.

Our "O" is really good, too. I honestly believe they showed up ready to play that Saturday against NIU.

If only the game hadn't been on Friday night... :(

Right. Would have, could have, should have....point was, we had a chance against NIU and didn't get it done. I'd love to have a rematch, but it's just not in the cards. I really hope this BG team can land in a bowl game some way, some how. We're too good to be sitting at home this year.

I think we our the best team in the conference. We played the worst game possibly and for that NIU deserves to win the conference as time stands now. They could still drop two. You never know. remember toledo getting beat 38-14 by BSU last year. And we could still end up with a three way tie if they don't lose twice. No we would not go to the MACC (i think) but I think we would still be considered cochamps of the west (i think). Some consolation. Anyway my point is no game is a given. If UCF and a 1-AA team could take this team all the way to the breaking point so can anybody.

I wasn't gloating, I was stating a fact. With our starting QB back and the rust knocked off (thank you UCF for letting him knock the rust off against you and being so pathetic that it didn't cost us a game), we have a very good offense. Our OL is the best in the MAC, we have two RBs that could start anywhere else in the MAC (not a slam on anyone's current starters), and our deep WR corps is finally getting a chance to show what it can do.

Folks, you didn't see the full NIU offensive arsenal. I'm not saying we would have beat you worse or anything like that, I'm just telling the truth - you saw our backup QB and a very conservative gameplan. We are now hitting on all cylinders with all our personnel. Dan Sheldon is our biggest playmaker, but you didn't get to see much of him because of a greatly scaled back playbook, and with him in the game we become a much more explosive O.

The MAC West has easily the 3 best offenses in the MAC in NIU, BG and UT. Maybe the rest of you (Schad exempted) can quit being so touchy.

HuskieDan--You have a quality team and an underrated QB in Haldi. You beat us head-to-head, with your backup Qb, which is even more to your credit. The logjam in the West is a shame.

At a quickie mart before the NIU game, I asked someone if Haldi was starting. About 5 people in the place all looked and were like I sure hope not. At that time, it seemed a lot of people didn't like him. A 333 yard and 6 TD game should change that!!

HuskieDan...that defense is "tough". How did you keep CFU and Western under 40? That's a tribute to that smashmouth in your face defense. If you did it against us, you should be able to do it against those teams....hmm...maybe it was because it was Jacob's 3rd college game ever? I wonder if that had anything to do with it? Any bowl would love to have a team that gives up those kinds of numbers against those horrible teams, huh?

Actually, it's because your pathetic joke of an offense doesn't compare to the powerhouses of WMU and UCF.

Come on, think about it for a minute. We were up 21-0 on UCF at half. In the second half, our QB threw an INT for a TD, another gave UCF the ball at our 30 and a 9 yard punt gave them the ball inside our 40. Our D was put in bad positions in that game. Against WMU, it was 49-17 in the middle of the third quarter and the game was over. After that, they had a 93 yard punt return TD and a TD drive against our entire 2nd team D (that only had the opportunity to play one other time this year, last week against CMU).

Bottom line - 2 W's. 5-0. That's all the matters, as I'm sure you're aware of.

We still have yet to field a "stud" QB during the Joe Novak era. We signed two of them last February, and you'll be very aware of the name Britt Davis in the next 4 years. But for now we field QBs that are just average. Haldi is not the most physically skilled kid, but he's extremely smart and can be very effective with good WRs (which we have) and a good running game (which we have). But we can run our entire O with Haldi, where we can't with Horvath due to his inexperience.

The bottom line with Haldi is that he's 22-6 as a starter. Anyone in DeKalb that said they didn't want Haldi in the game is probably stoned, but that wouldn't be surprising.
