These are from the seats. I should be on the sidelines for this year's game. We won't have Bernstein opening holes for Calhoun and you won't have Omar. The biggest key last year (IMO) was when Pope went down.
Some good stuff (and some nightmare material! ) in there. Thanks for sharing!
I think you're right to an extent about Pope's injury doing us in, but he wasn't playing defense. Which kick did he go down on? After the first TD or the second? Either way, I think momentum was starting to work its way around. We were still tied and trading punches at half, well after P.J. left.

Most folks look at Omar going down as the biggest injury of the year. IMO, Losing Pope for half the season and then him not being able to get back to form until late in the season was the most costly injury of the year. Pope was (and is) an amazing player. He was such an important piece of the offense (most important IMO) and it really threw a wrench into what we could and could not do. BJ Lane was a fine back and had a solid year & career. But Pope was the main ingredient.
Thanks for the pix, Myles. I was just watching this game on tape over the weekend and got so tired of watching your O line flatten our D. It was painful. But, with Wisconsin, you get a powerful running game.

Great assessment there, Freak. I liked Lane - tough runner who would have been a two- or three-year starter at a lot of schools. But P.J. was just at a different level. And when you combined the two - wow!

I always felt B.J. Lane was a bit overrated and that Pope was a bit underrated. We were a different team without Pope, you could tell just in the way Omar threw his passes that PJ wasnt in the game throwing a key block or getting open underneath!
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!
