Miami has a nice planning area, where there is a bust which will have pillars in which there will be bronze plaques with all of the great coaches that come through. It wouldnt be a bad idea to something similar for the falcons so people can see history without having something in which you have 2-3 people trudging through.

I think the key is picking up what improvements we can as part of projects that will be funded regardless of anything else.

We won't see many, if any, dedicated efforts to raise money for lightweight projects. Since the reoganization of Falcon Club, athletic, and University development, they have gained a great deal of experience in different projects. The results are more and more impressive. Since many efforts take years to cultivate, I can only figure there will be a growing list of great things to come.

I don't expect the development or athletic staff to get sucked into the lightweight projects, they do have bigger fish to fry. I just wish there were a conduit for the fair amounts of soft money which could be assembled for the finishing touches.

The kind of detail work I'm interested in really is true of the entire University. We have a nice campus, but marginal landscaping. Lots of aging sidewalks, too few places to sit, etc. I don't think twice about it anymore because I've been at point-blank range to it for so long. But when an area is rebuilt, like the Union Oval was, it suddenly jumps out in sore contrast to many other parts of the campus.

The grounds crew does do a heck of a job given what money and man hours they get. I wish they had the means to do more.
