I don't want to jinx our future tilts with the Brie Boys by saying last year's Bowling Green-Miami game was an aberration -- but, in historical terms, it was.BGSUVA wrote:From my experience, Oxford doesn't appear to be much of a home field advantage
Damned place cost us at least one future hall of fame coach.
The only time I've seen a game there was in 2003. It was rowdy.

Miami's record against NW is 5-1 dating back to 1955.BGSUVA wrote:From my experience, Oxford doesn't appear to be much of a home field advantage

"FOR STARTERS: Miami has been historically solid in season openers and still more impressive in home openers. Since its first game in 1888, the Red and White has posted a 78-33-6 (.692) record in season openers, including seven wins in the past 10 openers. However, that tempo has slowed recently, with the RedHawks dropping three of their last five season openers--with all three losses coming versus the Big Ten. The Red and White is an even more impressive 86-24-4 (.772) in home openers, where it has won eight of its last 10 games but split its last four.
LOCKING THE GATES: Miami has been a most unruly host in recent years, protecting its home turf to the tune of a 13-2 record. With Yager Stadium in the midst of extensive renovations that have included a new FieldTurf playing surface, new scoreboard/videoboard, permanent lighting, a Cradle of Coaches Plaza and new stands on the east and north sides, the RedHawks went undefeated at home during the 2003 and 2004 seasons, establishing a Yager Stadium-record 10-game winning streak. The streak ended last season when Miami went 3-2 at home, including a loss to Bowling Green in its last home appearance."

Just wait until you mention you're from the North and they start in on the War of Northern Agression.MiamiBando wrote:And I have NEVER seen people get that touchy about two states, outside of Michigan and Ohio.
I worked at a small private college in Carolina for a few years before returning to Ohio. The President had me in his office and was discussing a court case we were involved in. One individual had no idea as to what the Prez was talking about and the Prez looked at him and said, "You remember when we hired that Yankee lawyer to represent us."

I say the two USC's fight it out for who gets to use the initials. They should play at a neutral field though. Let's say in Akron. So in case you were wondering, that would be the 'Cocks v. the Trojans at the Rubber Bowl.BGSUVA wrote:USC usually means University of Southern California...until USC-E does something, it will still be talking about the trojans.
and I've only been to Oxford once, so my comment was kinda TIC...however it is also true.

LOL, I've been there and done that. I'm actually getting ready to move to Savannah. And Georgians are worse than Carolinians. By far.transfer2BGSU wrote:Just wait until you mention you're from the North and they start in on the War of Northern Agression.MiamiBando wrote:And I have NEVER seen people get that touchy about two states, outside of Michigan and Ohio.

Well I hope you listened to me your 1st responder cause you would be undefeated 3-0 and taking that MONEY TO THE BANK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!
We got to the Miami-NW game last night. It was a tight contest until 3 minutes into the 3rd, when NW blocked a punt on the 8 and stumbled in for the touchdown.
Miami was missing their starting RB and Off. Tackle. The second string tackle just struggled all night. Ryne Robinson had a great night - 9 catches for 144 yards. Kokal the new starting QB looked good and can run the ball quite well. He was sacked a few times, again Off. Tackle issues.
Miami started 9 new players on defense who were Sophomores and younger. Young yes, I not sure about rebuilding. I think after the OC games, Miami could be hitting on all cylinders.
Is it Saturday yet? I am still taking BG over Wisky.
