Jacobs blurb in Columbus Dispatch: Wish you were here

Post by BGSU33 »

Wish you were here

Former Bowling Green quarterback Omar Jacobs was on the sideline during the Falcons’ 35-14 loss to Wisconsin on Saturday night in Cleveland Browns Stadium. He has a lot of time on his hands after being cut by the Pittsburgh Steelers and later signed to their practice squad.

BG coach Gregg Brandon advised Jacobs, who was a fifth round draft pick as an early entry junior, to stay in school. "I was walking (the sideline) about halfway through the fourth quarter and said hello," Brandon said. "They had him projected as a mid-round pick, and that’s where he went. I encouraged him to stay in school and get his degree. He certainly was a great player for us."

Jacobs was second in the Mid-American Conference in total offense with a 294.7-yard average last season.

That line, "he has a lot of time on his hands," is so stupid. yea, practice-squad players sit on their couch all day.

He may not exactly be sitting around, but it is far from the NFL glory that he thought he might get. Unless you are a first round pick, there is no sense in leaving early. Or is it no cents?
