FIU PA Guy

Post by BGFalconfromCincy »

For those who were at the game, did anyone else notice the FIU PA guy continually messed things up. I heard him call BG players by the wrong names and wrong numbers, he even said it was 3rd down when it was second, and he called Corey Partridge three different names that weren't Corey Partridge. How does this guy still have a job

From watching the feed on Mac-Sports.com, I think that the FIU media used an older version of the Falcon roster. They periodically flashed #7 Freddie Barnes' stats, ut had teh name Van Johnson (who was the former #7).

Which may explain the Will Myles and Tony Hunter catches...

And the constant shots of Durkin (?) when they were talking about Brandon. I thought it rather funny that they had no idea what the head coach looks like.

I thought the PA guy seemed very entusiastic for BG good plays via the webcast.

Yes, I was thinking that too. When it said Tony Hunter had a catch on gamecast, I was thinking what the heck. But then I thought oh #18, which was Corey's number last year. Some indirect thinking, but it kinda makes sense!
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

First off....GREAT JOB FALCONS!!!!!!

I have worked in the pressbox before at HS games. It is not an easy job. You have things happening very fast. You are trying to get numbers and names quickly so that your announcing seems "professional".

The mistakes are going to occur. That is just a fact. The announcer did seem to have more than his fair share Saturday night. However...as a professional DJ...I thought he did a good job. He had more personality than I have heard in other games where it sounds like a robot is announcing.

Just my humble opinion.

Nope, I haven't had the pleasure of attending a game in Doyt Perry stadium yet.

The radio announcer that I was listening to, at one point towards the end of the game said that BG was down by 5 when we were in fact ahead by 5. I guess that's what happens when you listen to a Miami radio station. But, it was better than nothing, so not too many complaints about the announcers.
