My opinions:

First punt was bouncing all over the place. It looked like it might have hit an FIU player while bouncing around and then clearly went off the foot of the BG player. The refs must have thought it it an FIU players first was well or we would have lost the ball (see hammb's rules interpretation).

Second one I still don't get. Did the refs ever make an official call on the field and was it ever really reviewed? It looked like the FIU player decided to field the punt for some reason. He must have thought we would be able to down it inside the one or something. As he reached to catch it on the bounce, the BG player arrived almost simultaneously and snatched the ball before the FIU player ever actually got his hands on it. Therefore, we touched it first, ball ends up in the endzone, touchback.

Good Lord, this really got out of hand. Please don't think I was saying the refs were cheating. I just think they take the easy road on some calls when they have a profound effect on the outcome of the game. And I agree that happens because they are human. It was a tough situation and they took the easy road. Sorry to start such a buzzzz....

Of course if you really want to talk about some things that happened during that game. You should have seen some of the crazy spots the refs were giving. :D

I agree with you about this... see my previous "Good Lord" post on this thread. Refs arent perfect because they are human. But they arent necessarily out to stage games or help out a certain team either! It just usually you can predict which way a call is going to go based on other close calls throughout the game, and how close or not close the score is!
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

Flew back to Detroit on Sunday and had 3 officials around me on the plane. They were MAC officials on the field. Asked one of them about the call and he said it wasn't his call, but if BG couldn't stop them with only a little more than a minute to play, they didn't deserve to win. The replay officials were from FIU conference. Those officials said there wasn't enough to overrule what was called on the field. Complain to our own conference as it was MAC officials who blew the call. We all agreed around us it was a BG touchdown and only went into the endzone due to BG player hitting the ball out of the FIU players hands.
Bottomline - game should have been over, but great prevent defense by BG on the last series.
