Bulletin Board Material

Post by cowboyjoe »

Does anyone remember these quotes from Kent State Head Coach Doug Martin after last year's loss to the Falcons?

"So they better enjoy playing us now because we aren't going to be much fun to play next year. The day of reckoning is coming and its coming fast."

I'm not saying that the quote was overly cocky just a reminder of what he had said.

It wasn't any fun playing them last year, if I recall correctly.

But only til halftime!!!!! But, tis better than nothing even if it was Miller Lite.

I remember that quote...was all over the Akron Beacon Journal. I was kinda stunned to see that considering we were playing with a backup QB and then a 3rd string QB...that was frightening. :-D But, it was a Win that we needed. I think we may have gotten too used to the 30+ point blowouts and now when the Falcons "only win by 5 or 10", it isn't good enough per say. Does that make sense? I've realized a win is a win and ya take it and move on. Doesn't have to be pretty. I have to say my heart was beating big time during the endings of the Buffalo and FIU games. The outcome was hanging in the balance late. Damn glad we won them as well. More often than not, a young team has to "learn" how to win. I think our program has cultivated that winning attitude where the team expects to win every game no matter what. It's great to be 2-1. 1-0 MAC and a chance to take one game at a time and see what happens. Instead of building for the future, this team is building now. Sure, there is a ton of work to do....but I feel pretty good these days the way the team is coming together.

GO FALCONS!!! BEAT KENT STATE!
