What do you think??
As i finished my first season of NCAA 2005 with the BG, Coach Brandon recieved a head coaching offer from Notre Dame. If the real life BG team has another great season do you think that Coach Brandon will receive some tempting offers?? what jobs would you excuse him for taking unlik mrs. meyers husband who was on the first train out of bg.
Friends don't let friends go to Toledo!!!
Brandon, like Dakich and Meyer, is free to take any job that comes along. I have no problem with him taking any job that he would prefer to BG. That, of course, includes any job that is going to result in a major pay increase for him. Arguments could be made that BG is a better program than Utah, but you cannot argue the pay.
All that I really ask is that he is upfront with us. That is what pained me about our previous coach's departure. He continually stated he was going to be here, while negotiating a contract extension and at the same time interviewing for another job. If he is upfront about looking into his other options (he'd be a fool not to), then I have no problem with him leaving for greener pastures. So long as we can keep some current staff members around and run the same system we'll be fine.
That said, I don't see the same thing in Brandon that I saw in Urban. Urban has a gleam in his eyes that makes one believe that he will not be happy until he's coaching for a national title. Brandon, while I think can be a successful coach here at BG, doesn't look as though he's trying to use us as a stepping stone. Obviously he has to look out for other options, but it is quite possible that the difference I see is evident to larger programs as well, and they aren't as high on him as they were on Urban. Or I could be completely wrong too

I AGREE, I THINK URBAN BEING A YOUNGER GUY HAD A LOT TO DO WITH HIM BEING A MORE ATTRACTIVE OPTION FOR PROGRAMS. I AGREE URBAN WAS SHADY ABOUT HIS DEPARTURE, BUT HE IS A HELL OF A COACH AND WILL BE A BIG BCS COACH MAYBE EVEN AFTER THIS YEAR. AS FOR COACH BRANDON I HOPE WE CAN KEEP HIM ARUND BUT I COULD SEE SEVERAL SCHOOLS GIVING HIM A CALL IN THE OFFSEASON. COLORADO?? I DONT FEEL HE IS A BIG TEN TYPE COACH BUT THE MOUNTAIN WEST WOULD BE A GOOD OPTION. MAYBE FOLLOWING IN URBANS FOOTSTEPS??? OH WELL ENOUGH SPECULATING FOR ME. HAVING IN DEMAND COACHES IS A GOOD PROBLEM.

Some dude rated NCAA 2005 as 1 star
I was up in Michigan last week and relegated to purchasing the Sunday Detroit News/Free Press for my only sports info. Anyway, Looking through the others sections, I noticed there was a review of the new NCAA 2005 and the guy gave it 1 star out of 4. I was shocked. Apparently all the new features were too much for him to deal with, so he gave it a bad rating. Does it make sense that just because he couldn't play it with the new features, nobody else should be able to either so it gets 1 star only?
Now if I could somehow sneak that purchase in without my wife finding out. Is there something wrong with me if I have to kick my 10 year old son out of his room so I can play the GameCube?

Yes. You should either: A) Get him to love NCAA 2005 and play against you, or B) Buy another game system.Warthog wrote:Is there something wrong with me if I have to kick my 10 year old son out of his room so I can play the GameCube?
If neither of those is plausible wait until he does something wrong. Take his GameCube away for punishment

I can't play against my son, he always beats me. He finds the fastest guy and puts him at QB. Then calls a "Hail Mary". All my DB go back about thirty yards and then he justs rolls out and runs it for about 25 yards at a crack. Haven't figured out how to stop it yet and we have been playing for about 8 months.hammb wrote:Yes. Hey, that's what I did on last year's version and my friends refused to play me. The only bad thing when you play that way your QB will either fumble or get hurt easily.
To stop that play I would go w/ a 4-4 w/ a zone coverage scheme having at least some of your LBs blitz. Most specifically I'd have the outside backers blitz, and I'd audible the DL w/ an "UP" audible which will have them spread out putting both DE's on the outside shoulder of the OTs.
That is a toughie to stop though consistently. If such substitutes are fair game, don't hesitate to put some DB's in at LB for additional speed.
2 can play at that dirty game
Just whatever you do don't use MAN coverage schemes.

Thanks for the tips
I have tried some of that, but it is just too hard to get both ends (or LBs) up the field and keep the QB in the pocket. If I get penetration iwth one, he just rolls the other way for a longggggggggggggg gainer.
