Anyway you look at it GB isnt getting the job done right now. I especially dont like that he was so happy over the close wins to UB and FIU, but now says see I told ya so in his press conference by saying "I saw this coming the whole time."

As to when it started, yes the OSU games was awkwardly coached, but he certainly didnt give up THEN when we were down 24-7 with 10mins to go and he seemed to give up on Kent yesterday. Also by him putting in Sheenan just shows that he was desperate to try and find something that really wasnt there. I think the poor coaching didnt start until last year. The WMU loss at home, and excusing it as our QB got hurt so we cant play anymore. The UT loss in '04 was gut-wrenching, but it wasnt a poor coached game IMO. It was wrong of him to throw Omar under the bus, but holy crap Omar went from one of the most accurate passers in the nation to double hopping balls to receivers who were just as wide open. That doesnt mean you publicly blame the kid, but he did choke and our offense sputtered and their offense scored off of emotion and momentum. As for the NIU game I do think that was poorly coached, but I actually believe his post-game thoughts after that one. He talked about how much he focused on being a BCS buster and showing our program off to the nation and forgot the importance of an early MAC game. I know that is no excuse, but it was stupid to be playing them that early in the season anyway and that was definitely a hostile environment. As for the Ball St game last year I was there and can really comment on this one. That was defn 100% NOT poor coaching. Ball State was defn a lot better than everyone gave them credit for last year, because in games where they were losing early they just quit and let the score get ugly. Against us I believe they jumped out to a 7-0 on a blown coverage by Van Johnson. They wanted to win so bad at that point. We took back control of the game and were leading comfortably with the ball then Partridge barely gets hit and fumbles. 2 plays later TD. Same thing we crawl our way back and take back control of the game. 1 score lead and moving the ball down the field with ease and Omar gift wraps an INT. Throws it directly to the LB and didnt even have heat on him. They go down and score again. Brandon get animate on the sidelines yelling at the players. We come back and get a huge conversion on 3rd and long and score a TD. Then Smith with a huge INT and return for a TD, silences a very hostile crowd. Not poor coaching at all.

As for the future, I'm still holding out on my verdict. Even if everything gets so bad that we dont win a game the rest of the year and we are forced to fire Brandon... then we need to wait until the end of the year and that happens. Right now we have a young team with potential and are 1-1 in the MAC. We need to stop looking the way we did yesterday and RESPOND. Coaches, players, fans, media. We need to suck it up and respond. Then be a judge of how we come out at the end of the season!
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

Good point. He's a professional excuse maker. I thought we would have heard the end of his excuses after yesterday, but then he started blaming the youth of the team and somehow equating that to lack of effort.

I don't like to criticize coaching much, but there is a point when the free passes stop. A lot of kids take the attitude of their coaches. The coaching staff has been soft for the last few years, and our players are playing that way. When UM came in and told the kids that they were either going to work hard and be tough, or not be on the team, they played like it. Coach Brandon has come in and tried to be a players coach. It's ok to be a players coach, but you have to yell at the kids when they need it. Every competitive kid understands that their coach is only making them better when they are getting yelled at. A lot of the kids will tell you that they understand why a coach is yelling. Yelling is not the end all and be all, but you have to be a little tough on the kids if you are going to get positive results as a team. Results are results, and the fact that our team is getting softer and softer is not a good sign. Coach Brandon is a very good assistant coach, but he is not head coaching material. The only reason that he was hired as the HC was in part because the players that were on the team at the time of UM leaving came in and said they wanted Coach Brandon as their next HC. Coach Brandon is a great guy, and a very good assistant, and that's where he needs to be to be successful.
