This is one thing that really makes me mad. I know plenty of people who are now students at BG and I can't stand it when they say they will be rooting for osu in this game because it will be a blow out. Give me a break, this is your own school and you wont even root for them. I don't even go to BG yet and I feel like i have more support for the Falcons than a good part of the students here.

It is clear that he didn't learn how to write at OSU....there were no major grammatical or syntactical errors!!! I agree whole heartedly....In Kansas it is assumed that I like the buckeyes because I am from Ohio.....well I will tell you what.....Buck the F%¤keyes!!! I dont need them, our state doesn't need them, and I will bleed orange before I am caught dead in red!!!

I'm trying to think of a modern era CFB comparison. I'm having trouble.

That happened in Baton Rouge, La. on Sept. 20, 1986. Miami was 1-1 and coming off a loss to Cincinnati. Louisiana State was ranked eighth in the AP poll.
Or:
Marshall 27, Kansas State 20.
That happened in Manhattan, Kansas on Sept. 20, 2003. Kansas State was 4-0 and ranked sixth.

I think that might be as close as we can get. A win on Saturday would absolutely dwarf those games in my opinion. It would be the biggest upset I think I could ever remember in CFB.

How would I go about forwarding this column to some friends...and a couple of BG students I know? Only difference between the writer and me is that I've come to detest OSU, even though I've had 3 kids go there, two graduate, one of them playing Lacrosse. (only OSU team I've rooted for by the way). I've had too many experiences, mostly negative, going back to our FIRST OSU game, with so called "fans" of OSU. I realize that we all have some idiots who appear in the stands at games, but the only place I would rate worse than OSU would be at W.Va.....(and we got our clocks cleaned there!)
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)

No need to apologize for rooting for the OSU lacrosse team. It's just nice to see a reference to ANYONE rooting for ANY lacrosse team.Class of 61 wrote:I've had 3 kids go there, two graduate, one of them playing Lacrosse. (only OSU team I've rooted for by the way).

85% of people who go to BG do not give a damn about BG athletics..some who go to the games go because its a live football game, but they do not care. You will never get this to change.
you mention the OSU fans say it is more important for Ohio state to win thats why the root for them..then you go on to say how the BG players feel it is more important for them to win?? Well...I would hope BG players feel that way or else they need to give their schollies to someone else who does believe in themselves?? But to compare how the fans feel and how the players feel is irrelevant. The fans do not play the game the last time I checked.
People desire to be on top, to taste success and to have a reason to watch and cheer for every game. BG is not in a position to EVER compete for a national title. Yes, they can compete for MAC titles but to be on top that is not good enough and that is why OSU/BG fans will ALWAYS favor OSU over BG. It will never change because it is human nature to want to be the best and to be on top of the world.
If you are willing to settle for less than that probably means that you have a lower self esteem.
Yes, BG gives you an education and prepares you for your career. Great! Yes, the football team may represent the university and its students but they do not give the students their education, the real reason for being in college.
It will never change..your beating a dead horse and leaving room for contiunous disappointment.
Yes I went to every BG home game and a lot of away games when I went there, I yelled and cheered for them, but winning MAC titles would have never been good enough for me (and they never did win won) because I am one of those who grew up a buckeye, didnt know where BG was until high school, and always has strived for the best and to be on top. Thats why BG was never able to win me over full time. That is why BG will never win most of the people over.
Its not because it is more important for OSU to win necessarily but it is more because of Human nature.

Well, that and, of course, personally winning National Championships because conference ones just don't do it for him anymore.

since you took what I said out of context....Peregrinner wrote:Yeah, I guess I should let him keep doing the ONLY thing he does well.Falconfreak90 wrote:Why stop now? He does it so well.Peregrinner wrote:Thanks for the lecture. Next time, try not to contradict yourself so badly.

What I said was
the fans do not play the game the last time that I checked referring to an entire paragraph about how the players feel differently than the fans..osu/bg fans feel it is more important to root for OSU than BG where BG players feels it is more important for BG to win (obviously) as pointed out in this article. So I said I would hope the BG players felt it more important to BG to win or they do not belong on the field. I also said to compare how a BG/OSU fan feels towhat the BG players feel is irrelevant because the fans to dot play the game. they have the flexibilty to decide which they think is more important.
when I said winning MAC championships would not have been good enough for me I was referring to my view as a FAN. people want to be associated with being the best and being on top and that makes them LEAN heavily more toward cheering for OSU than BG since OSU is in the positioonn to reach those heights. so when you have a BG/OSU fan they are more likely to go with OSU over BG because of the natural want to be associated with the best. Wether you like it or not you are associated with them as a fan wether you attended the school or not. It still gives you that sense of pride and joy.
I, in no way, shape, or form said that fans do not play the game and then turn around and say that MAC champions would not have been good enough as a players (as you cut it up to make it look ... michael moore)

So, you're saying that because I prefer Bowling Green to Ohio State that I have lower self esteem? Ouch! I am a huge Bowling Green fan as well as a Cleveland Browns fan. It is a miracle that I have not jumped off a bridge yet!tekekini wrote:People desire to be on top, to taste success and to have a reason to watch and cheer for every game.
