Why do I feel the same way I did before the Boise State game last year? Too many times I have watched my beloved Falcons on ESPN (U,2, etc)in big games and ended up dissapointed. This game is HUGE in setting the stage for the rest of the season! We win and I think the team's confidence goes thru the roof. We loose and you put the ol fork in us.

Defense will have to be rock solid and the O will have to play a the perfect game.....No mistakes allowed....

That said....

CMU is tough this year and currently playing as well as anyone in the MAC. I like how we've adopted this "Road Warriors" mentality. We need it with 7 road games this season. CMU's offense worries me...they can move the ball and put points on the board. Their D has played pretty well too.

I'm tempted to say BG will win on a fake punt TD run by a fat punter but Rojas is in pretty good shape.

Kelly/Shorts Stadium is a tough place on opposing teams and that obnoxious, rude and crude student section gets very loud. So, knowing full well this is a game we could lose, I can't pick against our boys now...some how, some way, BG gets it done. I still like the idea of CP making a one handed snag with 4 seconds left to tie the score and Big Bird hitting the XP to win it.

Falcons 31, Chippewas 30.

Guys c'mon, we have the same record as them. Outside of OSU, we havent lost a road game in a while. Its not like they have played better competition either. They played michigan, we played osu. they played BC, we played wisky. cmon they are 4-3, we are 4-3. home field doesnt mean anything in the MAC anymore. BG WILL win this one.

CMU 27
BG 21

I hope I'm wrong, but they're probably the best in the MAC this year.

Hmm. OK, this one goes to overtime. Final score:

BGSU 27
CMU 24

BGSU's superior physical conditioning is the deciding factor in a game where BG's D puts the ball in the end zone for points at least once.

Nobody is doubting BG can win this game. I think we're all pretty much saying CMU is a better team than years past and has been playing well. They are in the driver's seat for the West title and will be playing on their turf. This series went back and forth every year until BG started on the current 5 game streak in 1996. CMU also lost a very close game at Kentucky...say what you want about UK, they're still a BCS team.
I guess my point is I feel this is BG's toughest MAC game of the season. I've been to CMU a couple times for BG games and it can be a VERY hostile environment.

BG vs CMU.....

Post by Falconboy »

I really believe we lose this one quite easily. I hope to God I'm wrong , but I see CMU running down our throats with all these DT injuries. Unless Mack is brought back to DT/DE positions we aren't going to do well vs a good team like CMU this year. We struggled mightily against winless EMU and I think our weaknessess will be really broadcasted in this game. I don't see our D-line having much success starting basically 3 DE's in along the line. We barely got away with that vs a Mac bottom feeder EMU.

The sooner you guys realize it, the better it will look. This BG team will not blow anyone out this year. Thats not how this team is constructed. We are a running team so most of our games are going to be low scoring. Other than two big passing plays by EMU, we dominated them. All that matters is that we won the game and now we are 3-1 in MAC play with our only loss coming agaqinst the best team in teh conference, Cant Read, Cant Write, Kent State. the only game i can see us winning handily the rest of the way is temple. Other than that, every game will be close. And weve shown that we know how to win close games this year, so im not too worried about a close win against EMU. Yes they are bad, but they have played a fgew close games this year.

Hey falconboy, you seem quite worried about us only beating EMU by 3, but if I remember correctly, EMU took CMU to overtime earlier this year. Right? Yes. Once again proof that win margin really does not matter, and that CMU did not fare any better against EMU than we did on a comparative level. Not that that even matters anyway, all that matters is that we have been road warriors lately, and as long as we set the tempo our way early on, we should be able to beat the Chippewas. However, as Sville said earlier, it will be close.

However, at the beginning of this season, I had this game pegged as a loss. I'm sticking with that. That keeps us behind my ultimate prediction of 8-4 still, but that game against Toledo I said we were going to lose is going to be a win, so we'll still get there.

Well goin on a short week and AT not completely healthy, this one is gonna be tough. I watched that CMU/BC game early in the year and the chips looked really good. We play a good game but this team just needs one more week to come together all the way. We lose this one but win out and get a bowl game.
