If thats the case then what the hell is Aaron Hillman doing or not doing with these guys in the off-season?redskins4ever wrote:Urban's teams were never tired... Urban weeded out the week and the cream rose to the top... being tired is the fault of the conditioning coaches.

The sad thing is that there is a 90-10 probability that nothing will change after the season. Brandon sounded like a defeated coach yesterday talking, very defeated. I think he's out of ideas, as is the coaching staff, and when that happens changes need to be made. These freshmen playing are sophomores by now, they've played in 8 games up until Temple at the collegiate level. As stated earlier, the excuses need to end and some sort of action needs to be taken. We are right now teetering on the edge of completely mailing in the season, losing to 3 sub-par teams in Akron, Miami and Toledo.
The state of Falcon football right now is in disarray. It saddens me to see such a proud program just 2-3 years ago be decimated to a coach seemingly accepting that losing to Temple is an okay thing to do. We are indeed in trouble, and the Blackney Era of the late 90s is again rearing it's ugly head. We can easily accept futility the rest of this season and beyond, or this coaching staff can show to both the students and alumni that they still have what it takes to guide this team to at least a winning record. These last 3 games will ultimately decide the futures of Mr. Brandon, Mr. Studrawa, and Mr. Durkin.
Time to put up or shut up, boys.

Actually, during Urban's second season (2002) a lot of people thought that he pushed the team too hard and they ran out of gas down the stretch with bad losses to South Florida and Toledo.redskins4ever wrote:Urban's teams were never tired... I agree JP. After eight games these kids are no longer inexperienced. Tired...maybe. Inexperienced...no. Why they are tired I have no idea. Ten games in High School plus playoffs. I know they have played for this duration before. I also am aware that High School and D-IA are totally different levels of play, but to compete in D-IA you have to overcome your weaknesses.

Was this the biggest upset in D-1 college football this year? We were 19 point favorites and lost by 14. Thats a 33 point difference... is that the biggest one of the year? What was the spread on Arkansas-Auburn? Thats the only game that I can think of that might even come close, and of course we all know that Arkansas is much better than expected!
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!
We lost to Kent by 35 and we were favored by 10+-. That makes at least 45. I would say that takes the top prize.BGSUFootballFan wrote:Was this the biggest upset in D-1 college football this year? Holy crap I forgot about that! Does that mean the 2 biggest upsets of this season have both come on our Falcons?BGGrad01 wrote:We lost to Kent by 35 and we were favored by 10+-. And I am going to throw out the Western game from last year as one of the all time biggest differentials. We were like a 35 point favorite that game and we lost 45-14. So it was like a 60+point loss with the spread.BGSUFootballFan wrote:Holy crap I forgot about that! J4H, how much cash have you netted betting against us when we are a favorite over the last two years? What is our record against the spread when favored?

I'm not sure what our record is ATS as a favorite but we went 3-8 last year overall ATS, and so far we are 3-6 ATS this year. Combining for a nice 6-14!Warthog wrote:And I am going to throw out the Western game from last year as one of the all time biggest differentials. I have us at 2-7 ATS this year (Ohio and OSU). The FIU game may be where the discrepancy is. My book had us at 5.5 favorites but a lot had it at 4 or 4.5.
WH -- I've been betting against us almost exclusively since the Wisky game last year. I've been betting between $200 and $500 a game. I did say almost though. I didn't touch the Ohio game this year, and I bet on us to cover against OSU (only time I've bet on us in the last 2 years). That makes me 8-0 this year, + the 8-3 last year which equals 16-3. That's a +13, which means I've made somewhere in the neighboorhood of $3000 dollars off of Gregg Brandon being a bad coach. I've donated almost half of that back to the football program, so I guess the guy's not all bad.

You are right my friend, we are 2-7 in some books because the FIU game was about right on, which just goes to show you how good the odds makers really are. That being said we should be 10-10 our last 20 games ATS but instead we are either 6-14 or 5-15 depending on what line you take for the FIU game!Jacobs4Heisman wrote:I have us at 2-7 ATS this year (Ohio and OSU).
