How did Daniel Ifft decide to join Ball State if he really had an offer from Michigan?
I know he wanted to play early but he'd look pretty good in brown and orange
You know about Ifft, eh? I've emailed Coach Rothenbuhler a couple times about Ifft, Percy Gardner (Dover QB) and Matt Rinehart (Dover kicker and punter). I'll ask about him at the game tomorrow but I seem to remember it was basically a rumor that UM offered Ifft. He's good, though. 6'3" and plays a pretty mean DB as well. Gardner is rumored to have interest from Ohio U but I would love to see him in the orange and brown!!!! 6'2", 220...solid...Josh Harrisish. They run the spread at Dover and pass 80-90% of the time. Gardner can dish out the punishment but he doesn't have the greatest speed. Gardner has a 92 MPH fastball as well.

He could play both at a MAC school and some in Dover has said he almost prefers baseball to football. Funny thing is Ifft was the QB until Coach Ifft put him at WR and moved Gardner over to QB. Gardner was 242 of 363 for 4,003 yards and 40 touchdowns...in 2005 alone. He threw a national record 7 TD's in one half...5 of them to Ifft, who also set a national record. Last yr Ifft caught 102 passes for 1,605 yards and 21 TD's.
Rinehart is only a JR but is already putting kickoffs into the end zone and punts pretty well. He plays WR too.
Every one of these kids will play 1-A ball somewhere....It would be great if it were BG. I think Ifft is going to Ball State and that sux...OTOH, he'll terrorize UT for a few years.
Dover does play some high quality teams every year like Canton South, Orrville, Canal Fulton Northwest, New Philadelphia, Cambridge...used to play Untiontown Lake & Canton Central Cathloic ever year. I'm not saying the East Central Ohio League is the greatest cuz there are a few teams that are totally overmatched every year like Indian Valley and Claymont. Meadowbrook has improved and Warsaw River View has joined the league and only lost to Dover by 10, New Phila by 3.
Damn, I want Gardner at BGSU!!!!! I swear he looks a lot like J5. In Dover's 2006, 84 page media guide, it appears Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, OSU, Purdue and Wisky have all expressed some interest. I think his lack of blinding speed is why he hasn't received an offer yet. My sister Brenda, an '87 BG grad, teaches at Dover. I guess he's pretty bummed cuz he hasn't received an offer yet. He's thrown for over 400 yards 6 different times. Some have said Gardner's style reminds them of Warren Moon. And he's a high quality, personable kid that carries himself very well. I swear this is how J5 must have been HS.
I sent this post in an email to Coach Rothenbuhler and invited him to Fawcett Stadium tomorrow.
GO DOVER!!!!! BEAT STEUBENVILLE!!!!!
