I was hoping we could sneak into the top 25 this week, but with the number of #20-25 range teams that ended up winning this weekend, 26 is a good spot to be. Thumping Marshall should guarantee a spot in the poll for the third straight year!
And we got a whole 4 AP votes. I can't remember seeing so much difference between the two polls. Last year we ended up being #23 in both. I would have to think if we can break into one we could get into the other more easily with the exposure.

I just saw that... what a joke. I knew we had alot of ground to make up in the AP poll, but thought we'd start doing that. Instead, TOLEDO is still getting votes. I know we haven't played the greatest competition in the past few weeks, but what we've been given, we've been done with before the fourth quarter started. Just proves my point that sportswriters are a bunch of worthless jerkoffs.
I'm sorry, when you're #29, and you put up video-game stats against a team while beating them 52-0, and you don't get in, we got screwed. Agreed, after Marshall and UT, we'll be in there, but I was hoping to be there allready. Jeff
I just don't see how Toledo is still getting votes now?! That's 3 losses. They suck. Why can't anyone else see this?

Unfortunately, I think its still Toledo because it keeps the possibility of a MAC West title alive. We still can't rely on their being ANY at-large spots available.
And I still think we have to beat Marshall AND UT regardless to get into any at-large bid, so we might as well have MACC hopes while we're at it.
I always find the coaches' poll to be the more accurate one of the two. Coaches have seen the teams from the sideline, which is the best perspective, and talked to fellow coaches who have played against them. Writers generally only see and pay attention to the teams in their area. Just a guess, but I'd say our four AP votes are from the Toldeo/Detroit sportwriters who've seen us play, and know how good we are.

I agree - I was a bit flabbergasted.
None of us are as sure to get into both polls this year because we don't have those great wins from last year. The fact that we're as high as we are is because of the respect earned the last few years in beating some good opponents, though.
BTW - NIU went from #26 to #27 in the AP without playing, but we did gain 25 votes.
Beat Marshall and UT and I guarantee you'll be ranked.
