Really can't believe this...

Post by BGorDeath »

Everyone was bitching about students not coming to the games. Now, students were at the game and we are bitching about how they are conducting themselves when cheering for the team. We are now also bitching because they talk about a player being hot. Brief conclusion:

1. Be happy they are at the game.
2. Be happy they are paying attention to the game by actually cheering.
3. Be happy they actually know a player's name.
4. Be happy you have some hot girls in your section. I don't.

If you want to solve the problem, clone yourself. Get use to the fact some people go to the game for a social time, not to be a die hard fan.

My sentiments exactly.

Its not how many people you have at a game, its how effective they are in affecting the outcome of the game (unless you work in ticket sales, and then you just don't give a damn).

As one who loves football, I'll take ten smart fans over 15 dumb ones every time.

I think there are dumb fans everywhere! Thundersticks should definitely come with directions ON them for WHEN to use them. :P

I don't know, but maybe things have changed. But when I was a student oh -so many years ago - we were not complaining about girls at the game, but getting their phone numbers :-)

You need to turn a negative into a postive :-)

They do come with directions for the bedroom, although they are quite odd.

BGorDeath has it. There is no way anybody should post any criticism that involves certain fans who are less "football intelligent" than others.

Let every student come to every game they can. If they need to know when to cheer or when to pound Thundersticks, OK help them. But let me tell you what Brandon. Stud, Beckman, Omar, etc. think about having as many students as possible at the game- no matter how football smart or dumb they are.

They love it!

Kids=Enthusiasm=Noise=Win=Fun. Who in the h&*^ cares if sorority girls would rather talk about Magner than know when we just ran the kick off reverse? Geez, thank the girls for showing up, tell them to come back, save the cutest one a seat and let's go! You have to be kidding me.

You're telling me the all the Alphi Phi Gamma Delta Zeta Omicron sisters and pledges at Oklahoma knew when and how to cheer? I was there too. Wrong. Help the girls out.

I'm probably upset because no sorority girl would sit near us back in '76.

EVERYBODY go to the Marshall game and bring somebody else- even someone football dumb. Beat Marshall.

Go Falcons!

agreed. however, if you make noise when the visiting team is calling plays to disrupt it, wouldn't you be smart enough to realize that you are disrupting the home team when you do it? Common sense

I suppose that it really doesn't help when the cheerleaders are still cheerleading and the band is still playing while the play clock is running.
The band has been more concious about when they play and when to stop lately since last week's game. Honestly, if you have a problem with the band playing while the clock is playing, take it up with Dr. Hayward. Other than that, it will not get solved by complaining about it here on the board.

The band tries to do a lot in bolstering school spirit and whatnot. A lot of band people read this forum and we've always tried to promote the football games. Also you need to be specific about which band was playing while the play clock was running. The WMU band was here and they were extremely loud and I noticed that they pushed it to the wire a few times regarding that.

With that being said, I think you need to stop complaining about people being there and not acting with how you and some other people would like them to act. With 18,000 people in attendance, it is sort of hard to regulate all their actions and they all can't please everyone.

If you don't like these fans in your way, send them to sit by me for a game! I'll glady take some hot chicks sitting by me and that cheer! When I looked around late in the first quarter and realized the only 3 people in the band that were standing were myself and the 2 kids who stand the whole game next to me, it was pretty sad. No one around me ever looks excited no matter how hard I try to make them! I'll yell out names and most are clueless so a hot girl cheering that knows the names of players would be cool to sit by in my persepective!

Heck when I was in the student section a couple years ago we were getting them to flash us! :) I certainly never complained about having them around me.

I have always been annoyed by people who do not KNOW football, and thus know when and when not to cheer, but it happens in every stadium in the country. I've seen it at the Big House, The Horseshoe, RossAde, and Cleveland Browns stadium. People do not realize that you're not supposed to cheer when your team is calling plays. The closest to being intelligent fans in this regard is probably at Cleveland, but still the fans are dumb.

I tell you what Metz, get a wig like mine, and the ladies will come. True, I have no luck with the ladies, but they all like to play with the wig! 8)
