Even in the midst of a 7-2 season where we are on the verge of cracking the Top 25, I Regret...

...taking the money and TV exposure to move the Northern Illinois up to September 24. (Joe Novak has to be thanking his lucky stars he doesn't have to play us now!)

...scheduling Temple and Sotheastern Missouri State (This team deserved a chance at a couple of more BCS conference teams!)

...playing Ohio State last year instead of this year. (This year's offense would have scored more than 17 points and the OSU offense doesn't scare me. Just kick the ball out of bounds and away from Ginn, like we did with Jenkins)

...that Omar isn't getting the respect nationally that he should be getting. (After last year and Josh's success, the term "system" is being wispered around. Truth be told, Omar runs this offense better than J5. Other than the hic-up in Dekalb, we haven't seen the red zone problems we experienced at times the last couple of years)

All this could be erased if we run the table and play in a Bowl game against a quality opponent and win....regardless of if we play in the MACC.

I agree with your post but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. We have a lot of returning starters next year as well as Jacobs for another 2 probably. That being said, if we finish strong and dominate in a bowl game we have a GREAT shot of starting ranked in the preseason. We were ranked about 30-35th this year after losing Josh Harris and noone knowing how Omar would do. Well after he pretty much leads every statistical category for QB people will notice and we'll get the respect we deserve i.e. a preseason ranking. Then all we have to do is win our away games and we'll be good to go. By the way I know we play Boise State away next year but what are our other games?? Aren't the schedules listed somewhere for next year or 2006?? I can't find them anywhere.

I believe we get another dose of Temple at home, but we play at Boise State and at Wisconsin next year. If we stay in the west, the good news is that we play NIU and Toledo at home.

That was a great time to play NIU, until the tragedy that took the life of a young Falcon Football player.

That game was a game where the Falcons could have made a statement about how AWESOME our team was. Unfortunately, we didn't do it.

These two programs deserve the opportunity to play on national television. This conference deserves to be showcased on national television.

Comments like this are comments I expect to hear from OSU fanatics: could've, should've, would've.

We lost.

We must overcome.

We will overcome.

Both our programs' recruiting will benefit from that national spotlight that Friday night.

And Omar will get his due attention next year when he enters the season as a known quantity. Unfortunately that's how it works with the smaller conferences that people want to ignore. But that's another reason that taking an opportunity like national TV on an early-season Friday is so important - to get what national exposure we can get.

The real question is which MAC player will be the bigger Heisman threat - Omar or Garrett Wolfe!

If BG moves back to the East, we should still play Toledo next year with the "stipulated" crossover game we had when BG was in the East and UT was in the West. But we might now play NIU at all. If things were to stay the same (BG staying in the West), we'd play both NIU and UT at home next year. But if we move back to the East, we will not play both crossover games at home with West teams. We'd most likely get UT at home, and if we played NIU too, we'd be back in DeKalb....where I do not want to play anymore. My guess is if we go back to the East, we won't even have NIU on the schedule.

Keep in mind that with only 12 teams, everyone will have 3 crossover games each year.

Looking at BG's last two trips to Dekalb, in 2002 and 2004, they pretty much sum up what I was getting at.
