I won't divulge sources but I believe they're reliable:
1. The artificial turf is NOT a done deal. It has been considered but it has yet to be decided on. If anyone here can provide solid proof that we're going with artificial turf, or there is an official announcement, I'll believe my source.
2. The real reason that the field was in such poor shape at the end of the season was due to the fact that the construction company building the SEBO center accidentally smashed one of the drainage tiles and neglected to tell anyone. This makes sense since there has NEVER been a problem with that field draining properly in the past (outside of watering the field for the UT game, of course... ).
Interesting and makes a lot of sense. As I said in the turf thread, I don't understand why we've had a beautiful grass field for years and now all of a sudden it was crappy. Clearly something changed; either the care went downhill, or perhaps a tile was crushed...that makes some sense.
I would MUCH rather put money into resodding and fixing the tile to ensure a quality grass field than ripping it up and going with the "wave of the future".
But, but, but, Factman is supposed to be so reliable... At least that's what Flipper said, although he his "half-assed opinion man"
I like our grass, I think it sets us apart, however fieldturf does conjure up any hateful emotions in me. Guess we'll just have to wait for something truly "official"
I guess you have to believe who you want! #2 is true from my sources.
I guess I am wondering who your source is, because there was no one from the athletic department at the show last night, other than Coach Dakich and Paluch, as far as I know.

It is not my intention to do away with government. It is rather to make it work - work with us, not over us; stand by our side, not ride on our back. Government can and must provide opportunity, not smother it; foster productivity, not stifle it. ~Ronald Reagan

This is probably the most accurate statement in this whole thread.

My source had also told me it was pretty much a done deal...
BGFan's source emailed us today saying that the "unofficial" word is that they are going to change the field to "fake" grass. So there you go...an "unofficial" official confirmation....sort of!! I think that clears things up, don't you?

It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. fact and pdt, don't confuse this AD/ athletic dept. with others- no offense to anyone else. I believe you will see a plan etc. from this crew.
I have been very, very impressed with the manner in which the Sebo was finished out/nearly finished out as far as the extra fund raising goes. The new locker room will look really, really nice. Perhaps a small matter to some but to me a really wonderful sign of things to come.
You don't snap a finger and do something at an institution like this, but I believe this leadership is proactive, thinking and moving- all at the same time. Just my opinion.
