Brandon knows what we need

Post by Godsgirlerific »

Quote from Gregg Brandon:

It's important for fans to understand that at the Marshall game we need to represent. We need to get 30,000 in there, just like we did for Northern Illinois and Toledo last year. They need to show up with their Thunderstix an hour or two before the game, and greet the team when we're walking down the sidewalk (into the stadium, which happens approximately two hours prior to kickoff) and just be jacked up. Bowls look at fan support. They're going to look at how many people are going to come to their town, so we need to show the world that hey...Bowling Green is worthy of a bowl game. Because, we've shown them on the field; we've demonstrated that we're worthy. Now, it's up to the fans to crank it up.

Brandon knows what it will take, and he even outlined a fan "gameplan" for everyone. I know that everyone here goes to the games, but even more impressive to the Bowl guys than being there is getting there EARLY!! OSU can suck up a season (like this season), but bowls are still drooling over getting OSU to their bowls because of their maniacal fan support.

I've been to countless games at the 'Shoe, and the are around the stadium is already packed hours before the gates even open. The stands are packed well before TBDBITL steps on the field for Pregame. And even when it is obvious that the Buckeyes have secured a win before the 3rd quarter is even half-over, the vast majority of the fans stay to the end of the game.

Yes, numbers are extremely important, but at the same time, they won't help our team's bowl chances if they consist healthily of fans who arrive right at kickoff and leave before the 4th quarter even begins. The bowls know that fans like that won't travel across the country to a California or Alabama bowl game.

We need to show everyone that we have body-painting, sign-toting, hoarse-throated, early-bird, can't-get-enough-of-BG-football fans who will continue to support the team, however far away they go. GRR!!!!!!!!!
