Re: BG & OSU FieldTurf article in the Blade
I found it quite interesting that OUR installation will cost about 166k MORE than OSU's...wonder why? Publicity perhaps?BGSU33 wrote:http://www.toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dl ... AID=/20070 I520/SPORTS04/705200332/-1/SPORTS
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)
If I remember, Greg Christopher mentioned either other places that were getting FieldTurf laid down, or that we have to do a lot of work with the drainage system, too. OSU probably just has to lay down the surface since they did the drainage bit when they renovated a few years ago.
That or the $166K is to FieldTurf parts of Forrest Creason at hammb's request.
"I am excited about the amount of use the greatest stadium in America will now be able to have," Tressel said.
How nice of him to think of BG like that.

I believe the poster who remarked that the scope of BG's work is "deeper" in that some substantial drainage rework is necessary has identified the main difference in the costs.
I am sure every installation has some other differences that might not appear obvious to those of us in other lines of work.
It will look very sharp- and help us recruit players, recruit students and serve a wider number of sports. Ready for kick off!
Go Falcons!

Thet probally have to do some work on the dranage system, because at OSU their system is probally pretty new and up to date it probally did'nt cost that much for them.BGGrad01 wrote:Why the $166k cost difference between BG and OSU? Is OSU getting a great deal due to the exposure of FieldTurf or does the $966k cost at BG include other things?
"You cant tell me NOTHIN!"

I suspect the price difference relates to the fact that they have a track-like surface next to their seating and extending near the field in Columbus. In BG there is grass all the way to the seating in all directions. In order to do the facility first class you would not leave the old grass surface between the field and the seating. This additional area would obviously result in additional costs.
Additionally the artwork would cost more. Anybody and their preschool child could cut out a block O but it takes talent to cut out a well-shaped Falcon head (any version).

That block is an "O"? Heck I thought it was a zero!FalconTurf wrote:I suspect the price difference relates to the fact that they have a track-like surface next to their seating and extending near the field in Columbus.
