If the Ice Arena were to be re-built, you would need to build a new sheet of ice to prevent having to move the team for a year. I'd rather see a nice new 6,500 arena built onto the East of the Ice Arena. If you're creative enough, you can still use the current locker room and lounge.

I like the single arena mulit use arena, let the basketball team use the field house to practice in, and bandied the existing ice arena to get more use from it (by the way...the community numbers are at from what i believe an all time low as far as youth hockey and skating club numbers go...now a lot of that could well have to do with folks going els where but thats likely doubtful.)
I would guess the likely landing zone for a single use facility in that case would end up in the 60-80 million range.
I would bet we see some sort of hybrid solution, where by the ice arena gets sky boxes new compressors, a new additional small sheet of ice, new and more locker rooms, a rehab of Anderson all for about the 20-40 million range. and I would not put it to far out side that the field could be modified to accommodate some how.
Im just fear full of what a new facility could like....a biosphere...ick!

FWIW, having gone through the youth hockey program with my son, people are going elsewhere. BG used to pick up a lot of youth hockey players from the surrounding communities but the addition of ice in Fremont and Findlay has curbed that. It's tough to justify getting your kid to a 5:30 am practice in BG when there's closer ice. Put in a couple of sheets at BG to make the scheduling more flexible and that may change.
