Great win today....and thank you!!!

Post by topdaug »

First off, let me say that yall had a great win today....I didn't really get to see any of the game or any highlights of it, but it seems as though yall took it to Marshall, which is fine by me. I really can't stand Marshall and to see BGSU, my second favorite school (sorry, but I do go to the University of Oklahoma), hang half a hundred on them...well, that just makes me smile...

Second....thank you....right now it appears the BCS is in a huge mess, and OU should really have no problem winning out....seeing you guys beat Marshall the way you did should probably push you into the top 25 which helps out our SOS (which some computers do take into account)....maybe you guys can help us keep our number 1 ranking in the computers and maintain or 2 seed in the BCS....

Finally, good luck the rest of the seaosn....take out Toledo this week and go win the MAC West championship....then go ahead and win the MAC and prove to all my friends here at school what I had predicted earlier...I had said BGSU would finish in the top 25 and would be MAC champions...no one believed me then, but they are starting to understand now...good luck!!

Good luck to you for the rest of the season, and thanks for the props.

But I'm sorry to tell you that Auburn deserves it more than you, if they stay undefeated. To do what they're doing in that conference is unbelievable.

What puzzles me is why people are so insistent that Southern California is No. 1.

The Pacific 10 is really weak this year.

I couldn't agree more. The Big 12 is not having a great year, but Oklahoma plays better teams week in and week out than USC and it seems like they beat them more handily.

Make it a four-team playoff with USC, Oklahoma, Auburn, and Bowling Green.

Topdaug, I would definately agree with you on the finishing in the Top 25 thing, but don't be so sure about the MAC championship thing. For us to do that, we have to beat Toledo, and hope like hell that Eastern Michigan can beat Northern Illinois. Its kinda sad, but we lost the conference ourselves. Jeff

Ive been saying this all year Schade. In my fan polls that I submit, USC hasnt been higher than 4 or 5 yet.

I totally have to agree that USC is probably really overrated. I mean if you look at it, Cal won by 30 yesterday and they said that it was ugly. USC struggles in the first half agains a bad Arizona team, and they say that they got the job done. I just don't understand it. Oklahoma and Auburn in my opinion are the two best teams in the country right now, and I don't have any doubt about that. Everybody talks about East Coast media bias in college basketball, well what about the USC media bias in college football. There is no doubt that there is one.

Well, I believe the SEC is no more powerful than the Big 12...the Big 12 South alone is the most powerful conference in the country...this past week, we had 5 out of 6 teams in the top25 rankings...that is more alone than the whole SEC...Auburn plays in the SEC West, which is easily the weaker of the two divisions....the SEC total only has four ranked teams....I believe the SEC is just as overhyped as the Pac 10....in the past Sagarin rankings, the SEC was tied for 6th in conference rankings....truthfully, I think ESPN is being successful in their anti-OU campaign....

As far as NIU is concerned for the MAC, didn't they already lost two MAC games, or was their loss this week the only MAC loss they have?

PAC-10

Post by bobby bo »

USC is a good team in a conference that is better than people give them credit for. Their conference is having a bad year this season but that happens. CAL is playing great and Arizona State isnt doing that bad. Oregon is just having a bad year this season and it wasn't that long ago that Arizona was ranked #1(1999 or 2000) i think. SO i believe USC deserves to be were they are it's just too bad Oklahoma and Auburn have to stuck behind them.

so why does everyone think Cal is so good? They play in the same lousy conference as USC and lost their one big game. I am puzzled at to why they are ranked # 4. Maybe it is the media justifying themselves: They rank USC # 1, Cal plays USC tough and that is their only loss, so Cal must be a top 5 team as well. Maybe, IMO, neither team should be in the top ten.

i think they are legitimate teams, just top top 5 teams. If they rank MAC teams so low based on SOS, other confs should too. the MAC will have more bowl elligible teams than the PAC10, so therefor we are better right? At least thats how some spots analysts think.

Along with Conf. USA i think the PAC-10 gets too many bowl bids...I'd say take one away from each of those conferences and give the MAC 2 more...as far as the rankings i think USC is good enough of a team to beat anyone in the country with the exception of Auburn, but i agree that in no way should CAL be ranked in the Top 10...let alone #4 BCS...it's ridiculous, it is just the BCS's way of trying their best to keep Utah and other non-BCS conference teams out of the "big bowls"
