Mu fault for any misunderstanding, I meant the South side of the stadium. I don't know why I wrote North.
Yeah right girl!

My first game was in 1988, and I don't remember this at all.

Maybe other can corroborate, but my first game was in 1985 and I remember BG being on the East side. I specifically remember it in 1989 during the first night game. I also remember when Blackney came in and moved the sideline to the West side how happy people were considering that was the student and alumni side.

In some of the pictures from the 1983 record crowd game you can see that the team on the West side is in white (Toledo). I just can't find a good enough picture online to see it clearly....

Putting it on the west side is better because it makes the away team deal with the sun in their eyes at all times, while the home team gets the privlege of the shade from the stadium the earliest.

Plus, the Freak's 4 tix are on the West Side. I've only watched games on the East side a few times in my life. Nice to get a different view but I love the West Side. Wow...I feel like breaking into a tune with the Jets and Sharks. :-D

I think the sidelines moved in 1992. I was on the east side in 1992 for the ECU game and I can recall seeing all their gear over there. They had these really big fans to keep their kids cool...but it wasn't even hot that day. In 1991 I was on the west side for the Cincy game (my wife...then girlfrend threw me a really great b-day party that day so I remember it) and the Bearcats were sitting on the West sideline.

I know UT was on the west side in 1983 because if you look at the aerial photos of the crowd you can see yellow and white jerseys over there.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

I will concur that BG did use the East sideline at some point. I'm getting old and the memory is failing so I can't give specific timeframes, but I can agree we were over there for some time.
