Game time for Western Kentucky

Post by Falcon137 »

Has anyone heard anything about the game time of the Western Kentucky game being moved? I know it's homecoming weekend and the game is slated to start at 6. It just dawned on me that the same day at 7 PM there is a 3rd Eye Blind concert which the University is pushing pretty hard. Will this take away from the homecoming attendance and has anyone heard of moving either start time?

If I remember correctly, they have done this same thing before in the past, and they never separated the times of events to allow people to attend both.. Looks like it will be low attendance again and we will be fighting to sell 20,000+ tickets for the toledo game this year to meet attendance requirements again.. Oh, did I mention the toledo game is the day after thanksgiving and the dorms are closed? Great job AD with scheduling!!

Antonio Daniels handles the football scheduling?
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Not to mention a lot of people (well, females mostly I'm guessing) who might normally be on the fence about going will probably opt to shop instead.

My UT girlfriend seems to have doubts about going, but it wasn't about shopping. I don't know what's wrong with this one....

I know you're being sarcastic, but I'll just selectively quote you and leave the message the way it ought to read. Don't forget the fact that he's kicking AZZ on fund raising, we've got new facilities going in, renewed interest in Falcon athletics, and plenty more. We ended up in a scheduling clusterf*** because of Temple joining and our contracts getting messed up, and I'd have to say we ended up pretty well off this season in spite of it all- 2 B10 games and BC aren't bad as far as building excitement and strength of schedule go.

The timing conflict of the game/concert is unfortunate, but don't try to tell me you want to blame the timing of the homecoming concert on the AD.

Is the game at 5:00AM? Everybody knows that you get up at the butt crack of dawn to shop on Black Friday.

UAO's website says the concert is at 9:30pm, so people can go to the game

Good then they did change the time, when this was first announced I remember them saying it would be at 7. That should actually turn out to be an eventful Saturday. The only thing that could be a problem is that god forbid it's a close game with 4 minutes to go and it's getting close to 9:30 there might be a mass exodus of students...

i highly doubt that a mass amount of students would leave it it's a close game.

If you were a student who coughed up $20 or more for a ticket or more if your taking someone, I bet you would be heading to the gate.

...then you got ripped off. I could see paying $20 or more for George Strait, but for Brown-Eyed Peas?

You couldn't pay me $20 to watch George Strait.

Now you bring in the Foo Fighters or Audioslave (pre-RATM reunion) and now we're talking.

You're right they wouldn't. Because students will have made their minds up well before both events take place. Either you're going to the game or the concert, nobody in their right mind would attempt to go to part of both.

This ultimately falls on the university and the athletic department for once again screwing up scheduling times. Maybe the university and the athletic department were on completely different frequencies. It's not hard to make a football game and a concert happen on the same day, AT DIFFERENT TIMES!!! It's not like the WKU game will be on tv or anything like that. Even if it was on BCSN or some s**t like that, the University could easily tell them of a time change and nothing would happen.

And whoever mentioned the Toledo time/date screwup, I agree 100%. That's going to be a DISASTER. First the date is atrocious. If the game had taken place during school time, you would have had 7000 or 8000+ students there. Now you'll be lucky to get 1,000. Unless the townies can make up the difference (yeah right, dream on) you're going to have much lower attendance than you would have had otherwise. Also, since the game is on Black Friday, I imagine the townie attendance will be down due to everybody being out shopping. Either that, or there will be a lot of fights between Bowling Green's married couples over Thanksgiving turkey this year as the guys desire to go to the game while the women complain about it.

I don't understand why they just didn't make the game for Tuesday, like they have in the past. That worked great because the Tuesday before Thanksgiving is the last day of classes before Thanksgiving recess. Having the 2005 game on a Tuesday didn't seem to affect townie attendance much either, it was pretty damn near sold out.
