It's hard not to be too excited about our QB of present and future. He looks very composed. He makes mistakes, but if he learns from his mistakes he is going to be outstanding. The Sheehan-Barnes connection is impressive as well.

Students side of the stands looked great. East side of the stands looked really week. Makes you appreciate the MAC teams that travel well.

I liked how we made defensive adjustments at halftime to in order to pressure their QB who also looks solid. Temple may be turning the corner in their program.

He has a serious chance to be better than Josh and Omar when everything is said and done, and that's the highest compliment you can give.

If we lose games, it won't be because of him.

IMHO, by no stretch of the imagination is that an overstatement. Sheehan just HAS it.

He seems to have a much better feel for the game than Omar did. Harris ran the offense really well when he was a senior but he didn't have the ability to muscle the ball downfield like Sheehan. Will Sheehan develop that "field general" mentality? I think he has the potential to do that.

most of our QB core are diamonds in the rough. this kid will grow this season, and my feelling is next seasons opening game it will be like night and day, he will read and progress better, look off his intended receivers its going to be good.

If we play like this against BC this year...its going to be ugly...we to figure some things out before that game, and some of our MAc foes or its not going to be real pretty.

Omar was extremely accurate and didn't make many "bad" throws...41 TDs and 4 INTs...that's crazy. I agree Tyler seems to have a better feel for the game but he's not the passer Omar was...yet! He is still missing a few open receivers and he is trying to force things in sometimes with his big-time arm. He'll keep learning all this. He should be as good as the MAC has to offer by the time he's a senior.

You know who he reminds me of? Please don't laugh or fall over...Brett Favre...he has that gunslinger attitude...yeah, he's gonna throw some picks, but he's gonna find a way for his team to win and when the don't, he will take the blame and figure things out and fix them. He has that same "We can beat anyone" attitude that Favre possesses...he's gotta get the INT's down like Brett too. So glad this kid is progressing the way he is and I think it's only up from here!

I agree TS is the man. But if Omar had a D that forced 7 straight 3 and outs, and a good ST's I'm sure he would have beaten a BCS opponent. Although now that I think about it, how many BCS opponents did he play against after his opener at Oklahoma?

He played Wisconsin an HANDLED them in the first half. He didn't produce in the second half as much as he needed. I can't fault him for putting almost 50 up on WI and not winning.

So right now they've each played 2 BCS schools. Tyler is 1-1 and Omar is 0-2. I will concede that Omar's competition was vastly better than Tyler's also.

You can use the old cliche though; good players win.

Yikes. Way to early IMO to be comparing him to J5 and Omar. I love what I've seen, but he's not the runner Josh was or the passer Omar was.....yet. I agree he's got a chance to get there if he improves as much in the next year as he has in the last.

I must say I agree. I'm very encouraged by what I see in Tyler, but let's tap the brakes just a bit...

It's way too soon to be crowning him the next great BG QB, but he has looked encouraging thus far. One thing I will say is that it looks as though the coaching staff already has more faith in Tyler from a mental standpoint than they ever did with Omar back there. Gone is the ridiculous look to the sideline for audibles crap that has been a staple for the last 3 years.

Tyler may not be the passer that Omar was, and he's certainly not the runner that Harris was, but he doesn't need to be. What we need is him to develop the same leadership & mental capacity for the game that Harris had. That, combined with his strong arm and ability to throw on the move, will make him a great BG QB.
