I just wanted to stop in and invite you over to discuss the game this weekend! Any information concerning where to stay, eat, tailgating info will be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the boards! We look forward to an exciting game with you guys, it was definitely a good decision for you guys to go D-1A.

As far as lodging goes, there are numerous hotels along Wooster, which is the main drag when you get off I-75. Days Inn, Hampton, Best Western, etc., I guess it all depends on your choice of hotel. Food wise, it is a college town so most of the restaurants near the university are pretty cheap. Frickers and Buffalo Wild Wings have good food at pretty reasonable prices, there's also Ziggy Zoomba's which is probably better to sit in and have a cold one. Main St. also has some great dine-in places, coffee shops and some good places to shop.

As far as tailgating, most of us set up shop on the east side of the stadium near the big hill on the golf course. Many of us on here hang out there, but really anywhere in the stadium parking lots are good tailgating areas. We do enjoy having visiting fans come and hang out with us, we're very respectful and just want to have a good time. Meijer on Wooster is the closest place to get some good tailgating stuff.

Its our homecoming so Hotels in BG may be hard. I looked recently, and I don't think any had reservations available on line. That said, last year when I was up for homecoming there were rooms available that night at one of the hotels I checked. Most of the hotels are right across from the stadium. To the north you will find Perrysburg (where I grew up), its about 12miles north (straight shot on 1-75), decent number of hotels there.

Food. as JP said there is a Bw-3/Frickers, qdoba, Burger king etc on Wooster by the stadium. If you want to get a taste of BG, OH then try some Campus/Town favorites, like,
Mr Spots: Subs (turkey, roast beef, ham etc) Cheese Steaks subs, great waffle fries, hot wings. Very good.
Campus Pollyeyes: Pizza, However the main attraction is their stuffed breadsticks. Chicken and cheese with ranch dressing to dip it in is a campus favorite. They stuff 'em with just about anything you could want. Not a bad beer selection either.
Myles: Pizza. There are pretty much only two opinions on myles, you either love it or you hate it. I love it.
Dibenetto's: Subs Italian food. Closest to campus/stadium of the three.

Downtown on Main Street there are a couple of great locally owned establishments. I really like Easy Street diner.

I'll be driving up from Lexington. If one of my friends makes it, we'll be camped under a BG and UK flag.

Virtually no Hotel rooms available. I got in luckily at Best Western for $140 a night...

Your best bet then would to go to Perrysburg, just up north on 75. They have a good deal of hotels just off 75 that I'm sure will be open.

This would be my recommendation as well. Check out the local BG eateries...MUCH better than the chains like BW3 or Frickers. Myles & Spots are my favorites, but cannot go wrong with Pollyeyes either. Those are probably the 3 places that are most "BG" if you want to sample the taste of our town.

For tailgating, like the others said, we will be in the lot East of the Stadium. There is a hill on the golf course (you'll see it, it's the only hill in the area). To the immediate south of that is a grassy area that we will be set up in.

Here is a quick map. I circled the stadium as a reference point. The lots to the south & east are all open for tailgating.

Reference:

1. This is where we all set up shop for tailgating. I plan to be making pulled pork for BBQ sandwiches. We always have grills for burgers/brats/hot dogs/etc. Stop by, have a beer, and say hi!

2. This is Myle's pizza, as mentioned by PGY. Tons of toppings & cheese, very filling pizza and the best garlic cheese bread you'll ever try.

3. Campus Pollyeye's. Stuffed breadsticks with chicken & cheese dipped in ranch. The pizza is good, but not as good as Myle's, still a campus institution.

4. Mr. Spots. Subs & steak hoagies. Cannot go wrong here either.

If I were you, I'd stay away from Fricker's. The food has sucked the last couple times I was there and I won't be back.

All I care about is that Big Red makes the trip and it sounds like he won't. Will be in Cincy for some mascot tee-ball challenge or something.

You have to try the Little Brown Jug steak downtown.

We should think about making a sticky thread in the football forum inviting opposing fans over to our usual tailgait area with the map that Hammb provided. Its always great to talk with fans from visiting schools on gameday, and maybe a few would feel welcome enough to come over and grab a beer and help us eat all of the food that we always make WAY too much of.

i must admit, the steak at trotters is the best steak ive EVER had, and i've been around the country to some pretty fancy places. and whatever they put on that just hit me perfectly.
