That is a weak group at #4 through #6 IMO. We're going to be 20 point underdogs, but I think BC is very beatable.

I agree.

A week after Boston College hosts Bowling Green, they'll play at Notre Dame.

We are better than Notre Dame. And the Eagles coach had better tell them that, or they may not see us coming at all.

Anything can happen, college football is balanced as ever. The years of dominant teams recruiting all the good players are over, and any week can spell an upset.

I like our chances, but as GB said after the game, we gotta not take penalties and tackle a bit better. If Tyler can move the ball and we can chew up some clock, I like our chances better. Our best defense next week will be our offense.

Win or lose, I hope we get out of there with no further injuries. We have a huge 4 week stretch starting 10/13.
The most important thing right there...We have Miami, Kent State, Ohio and Akron in four straight weeks. Win those games and we'll be in very good shape. None of those teams scare me at the moment and every one of them are beatable.

BG can win this game against BC. But if we shoot ourselves in the foot wth stupid penalties, it will bite us. Against teams like BC, you cannot give them extra opportunities. GO FALCONS!!!

BC fans just don't know much about Bowling Green, so with the upcoming game there just isn't much for them to comment about. Here's the skinny on them:

1) UMass played in the 1AA championship last year, was undefeated, and has 60 players that were initially 1a recruits. They actually are at a par with many D1 schools.
2) BC held back their playbook for UMass in anticipation of Notre Dame and VT, will probablly to the same for BG.
3) BC still has holes in their game, and fans know that presently they haven't earned a top ten ranking.
4) When BC is on, they can beat any team in the country.
5) Weak running game is banged up. Best running back out, 2nd best running back benched for discipline. Don't expect BC to run at all against Bowling Green.
6) Coaching is good but not great, 2nd half adjustments usually good.
7) New coach has benched bigger slower players for smaller quicker ones. Probably advantageous for Bowling Green.
8) Special teams are terrible. enough said
9) Run defense is very good, even though their best defensive lineman was named academically inelligable at start of season. BG will not be able to run.
10) Whole corp of linebackers excellent with plenty to spare on the bench.
11) Defensive backs are weak, especially the long ball. This is where everyone attacks BC. BC masks this weakness a little by playing either prevent defense (a lot of deep zone) or hides its coverage and goes for the interception. If BG is good at throwing the ball, they will rack up the yardage.
12) BC passing game is very strong. Great quarterback with a lot of good receivers. No one ever stops their passing game.

So how does BG win?

Run a nickle or dime package on every down - forget the running game, it doesn't exist. Ryan has a tendency to force the ball when he shouldn't, a few turnovers and you're in the game. BG must throw the ball a lot, they probably need 28 points to win. I suspect your coaches know this and that will be their game plan

probable score: BC 28 BG 17

Goldeneagles,

I'm probably not telling you anything you don't know, but passing is what we do at BGSU! I do like our chances in this game, but not because of what BC can or cannot do, rather because of what our offense can do!

Eagles,

Thanks for your insight, we always appreciate having other team's fans to visit our board.

As mentioned, we're a passing team, BG football has been for the better part of the new millennium. Our QB is a true sophomore but has handled the offense very well early on, he distributes the ball well (8 receivers usually have a catch a game) and he is pretty accurate at about 67% completion percentage. We like to run a lot of quick hitters, curls, slants, sit down in flats, etc. It'll be likely that we will take what the BC defense decides to give us.

That being said, we'll only run the ball if we have to. We have two capable backs in Chris Bullock, a power runner, and Willie Geter, a true Freshman who is small but has some giddy-up. If we do run, I suspect it will be a lot of misdirection, we know your run D is strong and we'll try our damnest to run around it.

Our special teams have been top notch all season. At this point last year we had about 3 blocked punts and a few kick returns for TD's. This year those problems are non-existent. Our kicker has been solid all year and nailed a huge FG in the waining seconds against Minnesota to force OT, so he can handle high pressure situations. Our punter has shown the ability to get some boomers off, and we cover well down the field. Same for kickoffs.

I think your final score is a tad decreased. I can't see either team scoring less than 30 points in this one. Both schools know their strengths and it's through the air. Our secondary has been pretty good this year though, we have only allowed really one big pass play all year, and have had a good share of interceptions.

Hope that can answer a few questions if you had any.

This is awesome, because Bowling Green is better than Notre Dame. Coach Jeff Jaggerschmiggerzhinski will be taking his life into his hands if he does that.
