Injuries

Post by Redwingtom »

From the bland:

"INJURIES: Coach Gregg Brandon hopes defensive end Joe Schaefer will return from an ankle injury when the Falcons play Miami on Oct. 13. Schaefer, according to Brandon, hurt a tendon two weeks ago against Temple.

Brandon said defensive tackle Nick Davis will undergo an MRI later this week after injuring his knee Saturday on what Brandon considers a cheap shot by a Western Kentucky player.

"That was really a bad deal," Brandon said. "It was a late hit. The play was dead and the kid came in and chopped him."

I was so pissed at the stupid ref on that play, he was looking right at it. And coincidentally, this was on the same drive that they called 2 or 3 questionable personal fouls on the falcons which marched WKU right into the end zone.

I wouldn't say they were questionable...it was obvious that they missed the cheap shot, the BG players got pissed (and rightfully so), and lost their cool a bit (quite understandably).

We'll hope for the best with Mr. Davis!

We will be a power again!

Go Falcons!

I'm with Redwingtom on this one.

The first questionable call came from the roughing the kicker. The kicker fumbled the ball, picked it up, and got it off right as our defender (can't remember who) was almost on top of him. Okay, you aren't supposed to touch the punter after he punts. But, after a fumble.....and besides, all he did was put his hands on the guys pads because he was trying to keep from falling on him. I gotta give credit to the punter, because he did a WONDERFUL NBA style fall to draw the flag. But, it was still pretty tic tac.

The second, I can understand a late hit, but I'm a little fuzzy on the whole "roughing the QB" when the QB is that far out of the pocket issue. The QB was clear out by the sideline. Having said that, my view was obstructed from where I was sitting.

The final, I don't remember the details of, but I remember being pissed.

Bottom line, the refs all but handed them the TD, on a drive whereas we should have had the ball punted to us from about the 35 yard line.

Having said all of that, I will say that the refs did a better job of picking up on holding calls than they did the week before. Even though they had one unexcusable drive, the officials did better than the Temple game. If they can improve half that much for the next home game (and keep it up), I'll stop complaining.

Go Falcons!
