How exciting is something where the same teams win every year?
My other question is why does he point ot the polls. The Mongrels he is talking about have a huge disadvantage in the polls just because of tradition. The polls are in no way a reflection of what the best teams in the country are, for that very reason.

Just to be clear: The writer of that column was Rob Oller.Schadenfreude wrote:Ray Stein is the sports editor of the Dispatch. He can be contacted at the following link:

Think before you write. He does publish quite a few every Sunday. And, if a letter is stupid, he whacks back.
Ray Stein is his boss. Each Sunday, Ray does a mailbag column -- printing letters, and then offering a take on them.
That's why I suggested Ray. He need to fill his column, and plenty of letters to him get published. (Most of the rest end up on the Dispatch Web site).

Sorry guys, but for whatever reason I did not have the big negative reaction that you all did. Maybe I was expecting more with all RUIT's emoticons
I guess I have been beaten down enough that it really doesn't effect me anymore. After all, the only thing we can do about it is to keep knocking off the big boys. Hopefully we can do that on Saturday!
Funny though how BC somehow escaped this guys wrath. Maybe he is catholic.

That's a lame excuse, but about par for the course with these nimrods (I haven't used the term nimrod in a while and am enjoying it too much.)Lord_Byron wrote:I believe that USC is exempted from the 'directional' arrogance due to the fact that it is a private school.BGorDeath wrote:Don't these nimrods know that USC is a directional school?
I like that steak comes from cows. That is why a cow will not think twice about eating you.
Is calling someone a nimrod really an insult?BGorDeath wrote:That's a lame excuse, but about par for the course with these nimrods (I haven't used the term nimrod in a while and am enjoying it too much.)Lord_Byron wrote:I believe that USC is exempted from the 'directional' arrogance due to the fact that it is a private school.BGorDeath wrote:Don't these nimrods know that USC is a directional school?

I believe nimrod turned into an insult when Bugs Bunny used to use it in disparaging Elmer Fudd. Chuck Jones and company knew it sounded like an insult, when it was actually just a description of Elmer hunting "wabbits."BGFan wrote:Is calling someone a nimrod really an insult?BGorDeath wrote:That's a lame excuse, but about par for the course with these nimrods (I haven't used the term nimrod in a while and am enjoying it too much.)Lord_Byron wrote:I believe that USC is exempted from the 'directional' arrogance due to the fact that it is a private school.BGorDeath wrote:Don't these nimrods know that USC is a directional school?

Right. This dolt figured he could either tell them what they want to hear and play to the base or royally piss them off. Either way, it gets a reaction.hammb wrote:It's the Columbus Dispatch. It's entire reason for having a sports section is to stroke the egos of Buckeye fans. I'm quite certain that a large part of their target audience did a "Hell yeah!" and high fives after reading this article.
Give them credit, though, they're 2-0 in the MAC East and 1-0 in the Gateway Conference.

That, or unlike Kentucky or South Florida, we're more often ranked than not, and have won 7 straight bowl games.Redwingtom wrote:Sorry guys, but for whatever reason I did not have the big negative reaction that you all did. Maybe I was expecting more with all RUIT's emoticons

We're not Alabama or USC mind you, but we're also not a school who didn't have a football team 15 years ago.
Just sayin'
