Absolutely! I totally forgot about that. This writer needs to do a bit more research. And I guess I do too.

GO FALCONS!!!!!!!!
Thats not the writer, thats apparently somethin GB was quoted saying.....I have a hard time believing he said that. I would assume he meant somethin more along the lines of having a chance to BEAT a top 10 team for the first time in history.

Saying Purdue sells more student tickets than BG gets students for free is unfair. Next year when BG plays Minnesota at home I'm sure they get 10,000+ students. If BG had home games against OSU, Michigan, Iowa, etc etc. there would be more students in the stands.

It is an awful misquote for GB's press conference Tuesday night. I think the writer of the article, Mark Blaudschun, read the quotes once then tried to write them from memory. Awful reporting.
Mark Blaudschun wrote:Brandon looks at the game as a chance to create a stir nationally. "It's a great opportunity for us," he said. "The kids will be excited. The first time in school history we're going against a top-10 opponent."
GB presser, from BGSUFalcons wrote:How do you feel playing the number-six team in the nation?
"It's a great opportunity and the kids will be excited. If we're fortunate enough to go in and get a win it will be the first time in school history that we've beaten a top-10 opponent."
Bold parts are same statement.

that is true, it also has to do with success. My high school girlfriend went to Purdue, when I was at BG. It was during the Colletto era of Purdue. I went to a Purdue -Wisconsin game, there wasn't 30,000 let alone 2,000 students at the game.

BTW, My email the write of the BC article

Mark,
Just wanted to clarify a comment in your story. BGSU has faced 3 top 10 ranked teams under head coach Gregg Brandon: #3 Ohio State, 9/20/03; #2 Oklahoma 2004; #1 Ohio state 2006. Boston College is the lowest ranked top 10 team BGSU has faced. I also believe you have mis-quoted Gregg Brandon in your story. The following quote comes from his press conference released 10/1/07, there are many similarities to the quote you used, except that GB says this would be our first WIN against a top 10 team
"How do you feel playing the number-six team in the nation?
"It's a great opportunity and the kids will be excited. If we're fortunate enough to go in and get a win it will be the first time in school history that we've beaten a top-10 opponent."

The 20K students I was referring to was the one PU game that I went to this year against Central Michigan... The student section will be much bigger than that for tOSU.
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

Good last point there. I went to every single PU home game from literally age 2-12. This is how I grew up watching Purdue football when we would pray for 3 win seasons, which is why I went looking elsewhere for a team to follow. Naturally Notre Dame caught my eye, as my grandpa was born there & lived there his whole life until recently. I still love ND to this day, but I had to get a team of my own so when Urban got hired from ND I started cheering for BG. Now everyday in school I get asked who are they or what's wrong with me, but it just makes me that more dedicated to BG! GO FALCONS!

very 8) I haven't been up I-65 since early this summer. Did IU put billboards
for football on I-65 outside of Lafeyette?

I know it irked some Purdue fans last year.

I haven't seen any IU ones this year. I do remember people on campus being mad about it last year, and our school paper wrote some articles on it... but I'm pretty sure it's all Boilermaker country around here now!

Hey...BG puts billboards up in UT country! Nothing wrong with that, as far as I'm concerned!
