And look how the West division teams lost...CMU got pasted by Kansas???? 52-7. WMU had their hands full with WVU, 62-24. UT got crushed at home by Purdue, 52-24 and EMU lost at Pitt, 27-3. NIU lost to Iowa 16-3, which isn't bad at all.
One week into the season I would say BG and Kent look the best....of course there is a loooooooooooooong way to go but I predicted the winner of the BG/Kent game would win the East. I was happy Akron won but I don't think they have the horses to win the East in '07.

I think most of us are now beginning to agree with the starter of this thread. Figured it would only be a matter of time before this thread resurfaced. Its unbelievable how much can change in 5-6 weeks.bobio wrote:After spending too much money and wasting an entire afternoon in Oxford, I think it's time to revive this post. What an awful performance today!!!!!

I was in O-town. Whatever awful thing is said or written about the BG coaching staff this week would be true.
Of course this only applies to preparing a game plan, in game coaching, recruiting, condiitioning, adjustments, motivation and scouting. It does not apply to their treatment of puppies or nuns or their mothers.
GO BG!!

He has to go yesterday. BG was totally overmatched and out coached today. When Sheehan stood in the pocket the 1st series and took what seemed like 30 seconds to make a decision only to get sacked the game was over. All day Sheehan stood there with all day only to get out of a perfect pocket and move around only long enough to find his was back 10 yards to take a sack.
The D got ran over! Flat out ran over! There were 4 or 5 straight run plays where our tackles were getting pushed 3 or 4 yards downfield. Complete breakdowns in coverage, no pressure on the QB. 0 Positives on either side of the ball.
Worse yet the attitude of the team in the 2nd half. Down 30-7 they came out of the locker room and you could tell they were done. Finished playing with no fire. Miami actually fumbles a ball on the oppening kickoff only to see us get out hustled and not get it. Sure enough Miami takes a 37-7 lead and good night. Sheehan takes some more sacks, and the game is over. To the tune of 47-14!!!!
This team is in reverse with the gas pressed all the way to the floor, with a gun shy Sheehan leading the charge. If changes aren't made were looking at another 4-8 season with the chance of not winning another game.

Let's hope that's the case. Hell, there were some people around here who wanted to extend him after 2 games this year.Strouse wrote:j4h, that's only if greg christopher and co. are smart enough to not extend gb's contract.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:Only another year and a half of this crap. Yep, Brandon doesn't have a clue as to how to adjust; he just sticks with his assinine game plan in spite of the fact that it's clearly not working. With the new offensive play caller, it looked like things would change in the beginning of the season, and they did ---- briefly. Miami had BG well scouted and when Sheehan got sacked on the first play of the game (I believe) the red-lights should have gone on in the heads of the coaching staff. I'd have introduced a razzle-dazzle right there and then -- maybe a reverse, a double pass -- anything that Miami wouldn't have been ready for. That could have been a real confidence builder. Instead, we went back to what has become a ho-hum, here we go again offense. I don't think that Brandon is an "adjust" coach; he clearly proved that a couple of years ago at Toledo. Almost every play last year was predictable. Only once did BG step out of their beaten path and that was at OU. We drilled 'em with razzle-dazzles and OU got caught off guard and they lost. ---------- Whatever, unless things change dramatically (and that's not likely to happen) BG will probably lose the rest of their games. Other things being equal, football really is a coach's game; it always reminds me of a chess match. One thing for sure next week --- if Sheehan can't get that ball off, bring in another QB right away. He's taking too much time worrying about his statistics and trying to get a bomb off. Those short rout passes would have taken us right down the field -- guys were open. And the coaches should have acknowledged this observation. If I could see it, they should have been able to. ---- I do hope they get their confidence back and win next week, bu t I won't hold my breath.
Sooner or later its the SOONERS!!
I'll tell you what Sooner, that Bob Stoops sure is a lousy coach. He came in and won a championship with John Blake's players, and how many has he won since then? He got outcoached by Nick Saban in 2003 and completely humiliated by Pete Carroll in 2004. Losing to some small school in Idaho with blue turf was the icing on the cake last year. He lost to a Colorado team this year with much less talent, and excuse me for not going delirious for beating that national powerhouse Missouri! Our AD, Joe Castoglione, needs to wake up and realize that the Boomer needs to come back to the Sooners, and that will only happen by firing the coach!*

What's the matter, JoeFalcon, did somebody step on your toes? I'm a grad of BG and I love the Falcons. I'm also a Sooner fan 'cause I lived there. Why don't you knock off the sarcasm and challenge what I said as opposed to "who I am." The BG football team ain't do all that hot -- in fact many of t he men's sports at BG ain't doin all that hot. And that takes some of the fun out of supporting them -- it's kind of ego-deflating when they lose like they have been. It is my judgment/opinion that a good coaching staff would not have allowed BG's football program to undergo such selfdistruction. And yesterdays was a total embarrassment. And I don't feel sorry for the coaches -- they know what they're getting into when they get into the coaching ranks. Some of these guys make ultra big bucks so they're expected to produce, entertain fans. -------- At any rate, I have the same right to my opinion/analysis as anybody else, so stop the personal-let's get even responses. I like BG as much as you do.

Easy, big fella! Where did I say you don't like BG as much as me? I actually agree with much of what you said except the part about Sheehan worrying about his statistics.Dr.Sooner wrote:What's the matter, JoeFalcon, did somebody step on your toes? It was not an attack on you or a repuduation of your points. It was S.A.R.C.A.S.M. about Bob Stoops and Oklahoma.
Sheez, we lose a couple games and everyone goes all Chris Leben.

I didn't get to watch much of the game, but I did listen on the radio, and from what they were saying, Miami had the short routes covered and we weren't running any deep routes. They kept saying that since Sheehan had all of this time and nobody open to throw to, he should tuck it and run a few times to loosen up the defense. Does anybody here agree with that analysis of the game?
