Bring in my boy AT
Personally, I would prefer to play Glaud because he brings the capability to be a dual threat. Sheehan would be my 2nd choice, and AT would be a distant 3rd.
I'm sorry, but Turner had a chance to show what he was made of last year and he was terribly inconsistent, mostly on the end of being bad.
The real problem is not the QBs, but this asinine scheme that we try to run. When AT was in the game last year all we did was run the ball because we were totally afraid of his throwing ability. This year with Sheehan we seem to just chuck the ball all over the place and not even consider running the ball.
I know that it's wrong to take much away from a Spring game, but I cannot help but think back to what we were saying while we watched that game last year. We seemingly had 3 distinct offensive schemes. Sheehan was chucking the ball all over the place and throwing INTs. They didn't let Turner throw the ball beyond 2 yards away from the LOS and were just running constantly. Glaud was the one that led the team the best when he was in there showing a combination of running/throwing.
If this is the hand we've been dealt I would seriously like to see Glaud get some meaningful playing time. It's tough to gauge him in these garbage time situations. I have no idea why they cannot run the ball with Sheehan at QB, but if they're not going to at least attempt to bring some sort of balance then, I'd be in favor of a QB change. I still think scheme is our bigger issue than personnel though.

I think a QB change at the mid-point of the season would destroy Tyler. While I agree that Glaud brings a good running threat, it wouldn't be the wise choice. He's unproven and we are at a crucial point of the season where fiddling with the important personnel on the field would probably lead to even a more loss of confidence. We just need to get back to basics, especially on offense. When you pass 90% of the time, a high school team can learn to defend you. This team will benefit from some new formations and wrinkles in the offense, not the same 4 and 5 WR predictable sets.

Does anybody think this is going to happen? Brandon has already said we're going to pass the ball around all day long no matter what. Nobody should be surprised it's getting shut down at this point, just like the running attack was last year as we finished the season with a bunch of consecutive losses.jpfalcon09 wrote:This team will benefit from some new formations and wrinkles in the offense, not the same 4 and 5 WR predictable sets.
We didn't adapt or adjust last year, and I don't expect us to this year. I expect pre-game drinking to be the highlight of my trip to Kent next week.
Roll Along!
Miami's longest drive of the day was 9 plays....because they ripped 10-11 yards off every play and threw completion after completion. The D wasn't tried on Miami's first possession.BGFootball wrote:First off zeket, get off ATs jock man...as I have mentioned multiple times I am a huge AT fan, but you are clearly making rediculous statements. Yes, Tyler has had 2 horrendous games and seems to have his confidence down a lil bit. His shoulder is also maybe bothering him a little still. Either way, it doesnt give an excuse for how late he was making his reads last game. He would wait like 10 seconds then throw a bubble pass. Those kinds of passes are supposed to be quick passes, not passes where the defense has a lifetime to pick up on. I still have confidence that he can bounce back from this. If anything Glaud deserves a chance before AT now. He has proven he can run the offense effectively and just needs some experience. If dont think we will do that though until our season is already down the tubes.
I know this loss hurts everyone that is a Falcon fan, but lets not get to worked up about it yet. Lets see how we bounce back and play against adversity. This next week will show a lot bout this team. Crazy things happen in the MAC EVERY YEAR!!!! We are not out of anything yet...we have a good football team, we all know we do.
The defense struggled yesterday, but do you realize how often they were on the field? Our longest drive was 9 plays I believe and that was the first touchdown we scored. I think we had less then 60 (or somewhere around there) offensive plays called. No defense is gonna be able to go out there and play well when they are that tired out. We played decently against a good MSU running game, we know we have the guys that can win a MAC championship. I agree that the coaches are to blame and need to figure something out very fast...but dont give up hope on this team, they are hurtin just as bad as any of you, they need the support of their fans right now!!! LETS GOOO!

While I don’t think Turner is the answer to our offensive woes, I will say I don’t mind seeing us mix things up with him in there from time to time. But what kills me is, when we do put him in there, everyone under the sun knows what he’s going to do this year with him – and that’s run the football. He’s attempted just one pass and has rushed 24 times. I’m not saying he need to go out there and throw 20 times a game, but damn, mix it up a little when you put him in and toss a few passing plays his way and keep the defense honest. He’s averaging about 5 yard per carry which is solid, but we aren’t fooling anyone with what we are going to do when Turner takes a snap. The kid threw for 1,596 yards (57%) with 11 TD’s last year, he knows how to do it.
GO BG!!!
Let AT Throw The Ball
When did the coaches ever have confidence in AT? When he was a Frosh he never played eventhough the team was up 40 points. Those were the opportunities when he could have gained some painless experience instead of throwing him in when Jacobs was injured and the world was on his shoulders. I watched him throw the ball in HS and saw the day he threw several bombs on point during the spring game leading into Jacobs final season.
We aren't talking apples to apples when you compare him to TS or Glaud. AT never had five receivers and was never told you don't have to look over your shoulder so don't worry about making mistakes. AT's qb rating was 120.8 last year to TS 128.0 this year. Let the boy play with an open playbook and see what he can do. The playbook has never been open to him.
There was never a qb competition leading to this season the coaches knew TS was going to be the qb and as a result the season is up in the air.
So now just throw TS away and let Glaud run the show. this was the same thing you all said about AT last year.

Ok, I understand that...basically my point is, the offense played 60 plays, the defense played 80.....that needs to be the other way around.....Falcon137 wrote:Miami's longest drive of the day was 9 plays....because they ripped 10-11 yards off every play and threw completion after completion. Hell....I honestly cannot believe we're actually not running the football. I thought we were holding off on it against OOC foes so we'd have a little edge going into conference play, but no...they really aren't going to try and establish a running game.
I really don't see the reasoning behind that...if you aren't going to run much in the way of deep routes and you aren't going to run the ball, the defense can just drop 6 guys into coverage in a 20 yard box and throw a five man rush at you...you can't block all five if they overload on side or the other so the QB is pretty much screwed no matter who it is....

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

I was hoping you were right, we were saving something. Lord knows that throwing is our best bet to equalize the talent differential when playing the BCS schools. But this is what I was afraid of after the Temple & WKU games. You need to have balance, at least to some degree, and it is haunting us now that teams have figured out how to stop what we did well the first couple weeks.
